What's even more sad is that a month later Jessica Savitch from NBC News was killed in a car accident 😔😭

I am 57 and I remember is a little boy watching him doing the weather. It was funny. This one storm I guess went into New Jersey southern Jersey and he had said if you’re crossing the bridge watch out you’ll hit a blank of snow. It wasn’t predicted it was a weird snowstorm, but I just remember him, great guy really great guy. I learned to love everyone there at channel 6. They’re like family.

I think the UK version was the first one to have a contestant (or contestants in the controversial question they got) get the 15th question wrong & this wasn’t used

Every time I remember Jim, I am sitting in Murray's Deli. I'm wearing a WYSP T shirt, the station where I was an air personality. Jim and his wife would be sitting at the next table. I miss those days.

It's not that rare, actually. Watch the Japanese version of the show and you'll be amazed that there are 13 contestants almost nailing the 10M yen question only to screw up in the end, forcing them to leave with 1M yen.

I want the world to be like it was back then. No social media yet look at the connection in the community. These men at channel 6 were part of the community not yet high jacked by corporate mergers and fake news.

I was 12 years old when Jim O’Brien died and it felt like losing a family member. The news wasn’t complete in our household until we saw his weather forecast.

40 years later, WPVI ABC 6 Philadelphia would suffer another tragic loss such as the helicopter crash involving Chris Dougherty and Monroe Smith who worked in that TV station. May they both of them rest in peace alongside Jim O'Brien.

This track was part of the original score library the Strachans submitted for the 1998 original UK series, but the UK shows have never used it. It was used on the PS1 and PC games but for its intended purpose, It basically sat waiting for a decade until Ken Basin gave the producers the pleasure of pressing the button to use it :P

On WWTBAM... (0:00 for the $1M Final Answer cue) Well, you've been incredibly brave going for all 15 questions. It's correct answers that count... and I'm afraid that is NOT the correct answer. (0:10 for the $1M Lose cue) You've just lost $468,000. Also, on Barney Errors... 0:00-0:10 Checking code... 0:10 onward: WRONG CODE!!! Barney (in Godzilla mode): I'm sorry, but the code you entered was incorrect. Here's the correct code: 4 8 15 16 23 42. If you had entered that, you would have been safe and would have been able to go back to your computer session, but that didn't happen, so YOU ARE GROUNDED FOREVER! YOU WILL NEVER HAVE THIS COMPUTER BACK! NOW... I... WILL... SCARE... YOU! *JUMPSCARE* X_X

Before he was a weatherman, Jim was a DJ on the top 40 radio station WFIL. I think he had the morning drive shift. He announced he was going to become the TV weatherman too. Then jokingly exasperated on the added workload. Being an adventurer, another time he and fellow channel 6 sports anchor Steve Levy, set off on a motorcycle trip to Alaska.

40 years, I still remember exactly where I was when I heard the news. My dad and I had taken a day trip from Media to Rehoboth for afternoon of surf and sun. We were in the car on the way home and heard the news on the radio. What an amazing broadcaster and tremendous loss. Now in my 50s, and living in Europe, I am crying while typing this. 💔💔

This was on my daughter's first birthday. When I walked into my Gran's house to find her crying, I knew something terrible had happened. When I inquired, she simply pointed to the TV. I joined her in tears. My poor daughter was so confused.

I'm from liverpool, England & I've only become aware & a fan of Jim's these last few weeks but its obvious to me had he lived he would have reached the same levels that Jay Leno & David Letterman did, ok he wasn't a comedian like those but every bit as funny & extremely likeable
