Good analysis as always Chris. I wasn’t sure how Pogacar would be a day after a TT based on the past TDFs, but boy oh boy was he on form or what? Given what Pogacar showed, I doubt Quintana would have beat him even if he sat up on that penultimate climb. He still got Second on this stage though, which after his past couple of years is not bad at all. It’s not secret that most of the teams here are B or C teams since everyone is saving their best for the Tour de France. Does this include the team DS’s as well? It’s the only way I can explain all these knuckleheaded tactics from just about every team save for UAE, and Lidl Trek on the sprint stages.

For the non-obsessed viewer, the live watching experience would be greatly enhanced by commentators telling you what kind of rider (sprinter/climber/punchy) is on the front/break, and how accomplished/knuckelhead they are.

UAE is the new Jumbo-Visma, Visma had the best name in cycling and that name change to the worst name, Jumbo- lease-a-bike, marked the end of their domination...look at them now....UAE better not change their name 😂

his "problem" is that if Vinegar should miss the TdF, or be there in poor form, it will spoil the achievment. As currently, he is the only rider that can challenge him in a tour

Chris in your Landis video back along time ago. You taught me a very valuable lesson. Looking at this profile I saw Motirolo with straight uphill right away. I knew Pogi was gonna hammer them based on the profile. Thanks

I'm sitting at the Chesterfield seeing Vergard coming back for the second round in front I'm saying to myself this is something he thought of while asleep and dreaming on how he is going to light everyone up. But my question though why didn't both INEOS and BORA-Hansgrohe not attack UAE in any of those climbs so that UAE could use its riders before the second last climb?

1, Pog 2, MvdP 3, Vingegaard 4, Rogla 5, Remco 6, WvA I think the above ranking comes out of a clearheaded analysis of each riders palmares. I can’t knock WvA’s talent, he has/had amazing potential. That being said, his results do not reflect that and he hasn’t realised it on the road. The list is fluid. Guys could change places this year but right now, I’m seeing that as the ‘correct’ order.

Tadej is Epic I said he'd finish five minutes up of the Peloton before the start. Now, I'm thinking eight minutes plus! It reminds me of my youth when I read the papers about Eddy Merckx. I'm going way back when I raced in the USCF I subscribed to Velo News Magazine maybe? I'd be like a kid at Christmas waiting to read about the big tour races. It's awesome watching a cyclist with his power ride. 👍🏻🚵🏼💯🇸🇮

Although it being super impressive what Pogacar did yesterday.... it is not yet at the same level as what Vingegaard the last two years.... And that is not me saying it, but the numbers.... Pogacars numbers/watts have been posted online this morning (Morning in Europe 😉). It was Pogacars third best climbing performance ever, but still not at the same level as Jonas.

I've only been into cycling since the pandemic, and Chris mentioned something interesting, that Quintana should have stopped at the top of the hill and saved energy and rode down with Pogacar. I have not seen riders do tha before. Are there cases in which riders will stop after being in a breakway, not slow down but stop, sit at a cafe or something, and wait for the group to come? I'm curious if you ever did this Chris and is it common? To a know nothing like myself, it would seem like a clever idea!

Pogacar is a knucklehead. Why would you waste all the energy winning another stage with the TdF as one of his goals this season? He could easily manage the rest of this giro and comfortably win it without much effort at all. Instead, he rides solo full gas for 14 km again. Even with some questionmarks on Vingegaard the field of the Tour is loaded. He probably thinks he is invincible at this point but thats always the first step to desaster.

I am now going to watch Eurosport and other bike news feeds for use of the term "knucklehead." It's only a matter of time. And we will know its provenance. I have a feeling some of these knucklehead moves may have to do with contracts, team squabbles and such. But who's gonna have the story on those? Hanna Walker where are yaz?
