i saw something on youtube a while back where peoples chickens quit laying and they changed their feed by making their own and the hens started laying again... dont know if this is your usual but some useful info if it is.

I have 35 hens and while a basket seems logical if I had one I'd forget it in the house. I use my pockets or my shirt 😂 and yes it has resulted in a few broken eggs but surprisingly not as many as you'd think. In 4 years I've only broken one egg in my pocket.
@HomesteadingandHungry19 сағат бұрын
lol I’ve broken more for sure

I doubt you would have that many freeloaders. My best guess is that they're eating their eggs.

They aren’t, I think they are molting

But you didn't check the coop. Mine lay eggs outside of the boxes, too. Also, do you not have predators? You have no flyover protection.
@HomesteadingandHungry18 сағат бұрын
I check after I check the boxes - no eggs

They typically don’t lay much during the colder weather as it gets warmer they will start laying again.

It is actually the length of daylight that affects egg laying more so then the temperature. If you want more eggs in Winter, provide grow lights in the coop on a timer to simulate summer daylight
@that_auntceleste584820 сағат бұрын
Yep they want to rest in those shorter winter days like the rest of us. 🧣

I don't have that problem most of my chickens lay eggs everyday I don't pamper my chickens I don't use heating devices either I make sure nest boxes are always clean and I feed them pinto beans and pasta cooked together atleast 3days a week They get greens and mealworms 4days a week and I have timer on a lamp that clamps on a post and comes on every day@4am so they get light atleast 14 hrs a day But above all I have JESUS to thank all the time for my blessings he treats me and my family and our farm good everyday.. THANK YOU JESUS

When it gets cold out put a heat light in their we're the nests r and they will lay more
@marissacolvin59693 күн бұрын
I've seen a lot of people advise against this due to increased risk of fire. Too many coops have caught fire this way, even when the heat source is "properly secured." I've heard it can also make it harder for them to regulate their temperature, which can put them more at risk of frostbite. Some people add regular lights in their coop to simulate more daylight hours, but I've heard mixed reviews on whether or not it actually works.

From Thanksgiving to Christmas we were getting 1vto 2ceggs a day from our 10 hens. Since Christmas we've been getting 5-7 eggs a day. I think they knew we were taking deviled eggs to both families and were being stingy 🤣

if you think about it then taking chicken eggs is like kidnapping because you are taking their children
@mistygrider78253 күн бұрын
I don't think there were any roosters so the eggs wouldn't be fertilized so no chance of that . If they were gonna be chicks then there would be a mamma hen sitting on the eggs but there wasn't so still no chance of that. 🤷♀️🤦♀️
@Erika-j9pКүн бұрын
You have to consider that they eat their own young.. They honestly couldn't care less if you took their eggs unless they're broody.

Congratulations! - your setting shall be more comfortable if the milking station was linear. You had , and you will have everyday a hard time with the rope, also going backwards in a straight line is not easy for a cow especially if the cow has not be desensitized to all things that can happen behind her.

I live in Houston Texas and we’ve gone through some hurricanes. Plenty we just had to straight wins in May and then hurricane Beryl.. but every year for the past, I don’t know 10 years or more we cut trees down, cut them down or cut them to the under the roof line so just recently before no actually after the street win and before the hurricane I cut I hired someone to cut this massive sycamore tree that was way above the roof line and if it would’ve cracked and broke, it would’ve landed on my roof and cracked it now this was a massive massive tree probably 40 years old or something I don’t know Big so they charged us a good penny but it was worth it. I think I paid $1800 to cut it down under the roof line Sycamore is very heavy wood so it took like two days for them to haul it all out here, but my mindset was gone because hurricane barrel did a number on my roof with my shingles but it could’ve been worse if I had that tree up so I’m cutting trees constantly trimming trees off the roof because it’s not good for the shingles. I mean Just right now. I don’t even have any big trees. I have a pear tree that we just did a massive pruning to it as well, but trees are not very big because it was really small. 23 years old now. 🍐
