So true!!! I was reminding myself of this half n hour ago as i was practicing!!! 😂 Its what keeps me going to finally learn the fretboard, and again.. and again.. and again.. haha. Great to know to push as well its ok to make mistakes.. or it just becomes a finger exercise rather than learning 👍 Thank you for the share!! 😎🙏🕊️✨

Great lesson and very practical. As a beginner player I was wondering how your getting your sound? Is it the guitar and the amp or settings on your amp? Pedals? Thanks again for this video.

@@johnnygreenway3579 Thank you so much and thanks for watching! The amp I use is the Quad Cortex modeler and this setting was a Bogner amp model with the Keely Halo pedal for the delays. It’s a fun one!

I own a standard RG and a Japanese made Prestige RG. I play the Indonesian one a lot more than I do the Japanese one. I do admit it's more of a spec preference than anything else, but if my standard wasn't just as good as the Prestige, I would definitely gravitate towards the Japanese made one more.

Why does everybody try to teach music lessons in fast playing and nobody explains beautiful blues solos anymore, like B.B. King, Gary Moore, Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Guns&Roses, etc.? Is it because repeated picking is easier to come up with, than beautiful blues solos? You get tired of it, all these guitarists who only show how fast they can play.
@PaulWarrenMusic3 күн бұрын
I agree that just playing fast gets very boring. I certainly didn't mean for this video to be about fast playing as I'm not really a fast player. In fact one of my most recent videos is about playing just a few notes so that you can focus on being more melodic. It was this one here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWOwomWqhNOde6M Thanks for watching and for your feedback!

awesome lesson, for improvising what notes do I target to sound the most melodic? Minor pentatonic 1, b3, 4, 5, b7. Minor scale 1, 2, b3, 4,5, b6, b7.
@PaulWarrenMusic7 күн бұрын
Thank you! It will completely depend on what you're playing over to be the most melodic. You always want to target the chord tones, especially for notes you stay on for longer durations. I do want to do a video soon covering that topic because I think it's something we guitarists need to consider more and more as we improve.

I like 3 nps ones especially using string skipping, depending how my hand feels sometimes 4nps ones are fun too, gotta skip more strings to reduce doubled notes though, although sometimes not skipping strings at all and playing lots of doubled up notes is fun too. Think Shawn Lane and Allan Holdsworth.
@PaulWarrenMusic13 күн бұрын
Some big stretches with those for sure!
@augmented2nd66613 күн бұрын
@@PaulWarrenMusic totally, i prefer a Rhoads shape and V's in general for the fret access and no horn, back of your hand hits the horn when you stretch that big, same with 3nps pentatonic especially if you do it skipped note such as 12 15 19, common E minor arppeggio without tapping, doing that throughout all strings in all positions you'll smack the back of your hand on the horn on a strat, soloist or RG especially, and those RG horns are sharp. Also a great similar one is the Wholetone scale and Augmented type symmetrical stuff with note skipping per string for wider intervals. Definitely some Shawn Lane influence there.

In my experience whatever you find that feels good to play is what should work. Yes I have expensive guitars. And I also have a Behringer that I bought used for $50 that feels better to play than those other guitars. The extra frills you're getting on a more expensive axe are just upgrades you wouldn't have on something less expensive. You gotta start withbthe bare bones. The body and the neck. Then just go from there.

I buy kits off AMAZON & E-BAY for less then $200.00 and their are made over seas , with just a little tender loving care i can have a top price guitar for lees then $150.00 with new pick ups , good strings and good wiring . to me the high price guitars are just high because of 3 things only that you pay high price for and those are the ( PICKUPS ) the ( WIRING ) & the ( COLOR ) that's all .

9:30 You have to mention G&L (George Fullerton & Leo Fender), pretty much most inexpensive American made guitars, made by a small team with attention to detail. Even when you order a pickguard from them, they don't just have them made, they make them as you order so even the pickguards are custom made.
@areallyboredguy582515 күн бұрын
If anyone wants a made in the USA custom shop quality guitar made by a small team, just buy a G&L guitar. For those that also care about history there is the added bonus of G&L being Leo Fender's final company and final say on a lot of his guitars over the years. You can often get a USA made custom shop quality guitar made by them for between 1200 and 2400. I really do not think there is a better company when it comes to price to quality comparison. Then there is also the fact that their Tribute models made in Indonesia are well priced and if you are opting for their MFD pickups, you are getting the same pickups that are made in America.
@areallyboredguy582515 күн бұрын
I have an AZ2404 prestige. Feels amazing, plays amazingly, but I am selling it because I have a USA made custom G&L Comanche which cost me only 1250 brand new and I much prefer the sound and also heritage of the instrument. I also have an Indonesian made Tribute comanche, and it is also super well made, only thing I didn't like was the more glossed neck but I can just sand that up real quick. I also have a PRS se model that feels great, not spending 4000 to 5000 on that. For Japanese RG guitars the difference is the centre part of the neck is quartersawn, though you can get a quartersawn neck from G&L and it only cost $100 to $150 extra.

But there's got to be someone out there who has replicated his tones with other modelers so you can get closer to it with your GTX. Best of luck!

I recently bought a Fender Professional II and it didn’t have stainless steel frets. It’s a great guitar but other brands have great specs too. Many great guitars coming out of the far east. Offering things that American companies don’t. Great choice.
@areallyboredguy582515 күн бұрын
I think stainless steel frets are a tiny tiny bit overrate. If you are not heavy handed nickel works great, also there is a tonal and feel difference between the two. I do prefer the less glassly feeling of nickel.

The comical irony is that PRS can put out a made in Indonesia or China SE, of lesser quality & features, make it a ‘signature’ model …& all the fan boyz will praise & swear that its the game changing next best thing, since …eternity. I’m 54, have traveled the 🌎 & owned a number of both 🇺🇸 & Mexican made strats & Asian guitars. Honest ‘eval’? Every (made in China/Indonesia) Yamaha, Ibanez (& more recently, LTD) that I’ve owned, with the exception of one (which was defective), outclassed just about all my 🇺🇸 axes …in terms of consistent build quality, stability, dependability, reliability, playability & value for 💰 What you observed is a similar reaction to what Western luxury auto makers & automotive journalist shills had, when Lexus, Acura & Infiniti threw their vastly better, yet much less expensive ‘hat’ in the ring: Shock, anger, insecurity …& 🍑-hurt ‘supremacist’ feelings. Enjoy your AZ. It’s beautiful. Recommended one for my friend, who bought it brand new, sight unseen …& can’t seem to stop playing it.
