I had heard OF them but I hadn't heard a single Arctic Monkeys song until 2024. Wow ! How can someone who was so young, write such amazing lyrics ?! If you sit down to write a song, never in a million years would you end up with esoteric and unique words. I can't stomach their 'new' stuff, it's like Alex became just another singer of generic songs. But hey ho, 20 years of constantly being told you're a genius, and money, changes people.

It’s my favorite!! Then Lola and the rest of the 60-70s LPs are played regularly on our turntable! Seen them twice and still remember the awesome shows!! The Kinks

They need to embrace those early songs and albums. Those are what gave them what they have now. Just watched a Jet, Get born 20 year anniversary show in Dublin. Got a real sence of appreciation the band have of their beginnings and audience that it created. The Arctic monkeys should be faithful to themselves, but also faithful to the people that paid to let them be where they are currently.

KINGS are up there for me with the best of all time. As a TN gal, the complete honesty in their music and sound from the beginning is what truly makes their music incredible. The young genius in the early days, all the way up to today, as they evolve and grow. KOL for life baby 🙌 🍒

The album was a masterpiece. My bass player made me sit down and listen to both sides right after it was released. We were playing hard rock covers at the time and this wasn’t Queen . Totally got it and still listen it

An unbelievable album way before it’s time or really time is way behind the progressive Kinks and Ray’s lyrics. Just listen and you will see. Listen to Arthur also. Actually all their albums and lyrics are powerful but those two albums have the most powerful lyrics.

Every song starts out with a "onetwothreefour!!!!" Edit: Im thinking of a different album, Ramones Greatest hits live 1996. Every track starts out with a super fast count. I actually like that album better than its alive because its twice as fast, beleive it or not! They play the same songs but it only takes about 30 minutes start to finish. Its blazing! A good recommendation would be "we're a happy family" on greatest hits live. Its so fast Joey can barely spit the words out.

Gary Numan came across a *_POLYMOOG,_* (not a minimoog) in a music studio and had time to play around with it. OBSERVE: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKnIZZunjtBko8U&ab_channel=AlexBall -> He ended up becoming a master of the device, making it a prominent part of both his music and that of musician's that followed. Critics hated that he'd made synth music popular, and yet admired that he made that music so well, like no one else ever.

Um, I hear a lot of assumptions about history in the video. Like the death of Sid Viscious had anything to do with the death of punk? That's actually funny, as he was all show and no substance, and the music community knew it. He had nothing to do with the 'death' of punk. - - SO dear watchers, take all this with a bag of salt. There was quite a lot more going on in the British music scene at the time than this. I consider it the single most creative period of music in human history. It was overwhelming and wonderful. Gary was a huge contributor, a creative genius, while his creativity lasted.

Bought this album when it first came out, the Kinks being a favorite band. I didn't realize there was a concept behind it, but living on Long Island I had no idea what was going on in London. I didn't care for the addition of horns. I'm surprised you didn't mention how flimsy the actual LP was. Don't know if all RCA LPs were like that at the time, but it gave the impression of being cheap or that the Kinks were minor leaguers not worthy of using enough vinyl to stiffen the record.
@fellowtraveler43589 ай бұрын
Yeah, I know just what you're talkin' about. As a guy who's bought vinyl from the early 1960s until just yesterday, there was that time when the actual records themselves were almost (okay, relatively) paper thin. Still, I have them and still play them. They, like us, are one of the survivors, the boppers and the jivers.

What a shitty video. If you’re gonna make a video at least get the source right. When you said “Nathan says” and proceeds to comments about the album sound. That wasn’t Nathan that was Caleb talking. And you didn’t even talk about their album because of the times which came before sex on fire and is extremely underrated album. Overall crap video 2 thumbs down

After Telekon he ran out of ideas and inspiration, and instead of evolving his music, he stagnated. It didn't help either when he declared he was retiring from touring, and went around the world in his plane. To me it seemed he came back to music as his bank balance was dropping on a daily basis, and he started knocking out rubbish. Warriors is were I fell out of love with his music. His first four albums are legendary and still fresh today as they were in 1979 and 1980 when I purchased them, ran home and played them on the record player.

A true pioneer of electronic music. In my opinion, it is a shame that he lost the plot after Wembley 1981 and wandered off into a saxophone / jazz funk style and then into a gothy industrial grunge style.
