This is a rare car, but it is not 1 of 1. And AMC never put Firestone Wide Ovals on any of their cars. It would have come with GoodYear Polyglas. None of these came with factory traction bars. (AMXs did!) The Go-Package was: the 4-barrel, ram air, dual exhaust, handling package, D70x14 Polyglas, and tach. The 4-speed was a separate option. The "Hurst" emblem is not from AMC. It's a lovely, well-equipped car. Thanks for featuring it!

In April 1968, I bought a new AMX, 343 auto with go pac. 3.73 dealer install rear gears. I purchased from the dealer a stainless steel trim package. It consisted of 2 stainless door edge protectors that kept the door edge paint from chipping. It also had the 2 stainless window trim pieces that went over the edge of both side door windows. I never seen any other Javelin or AMX with that trim, few people knew about it I guess.

I bought one brand new. Add a black vinyl top and a factory air and that's the car I had. I gave $3500 plus a 1963 1/2 Ford Galaxy 500 as trade in. That, my 1971 T-Top Corvette and 1972 Scout are the only vehicles I ever owned I wish I had back. It's funny that my favorite vehicles are all from the 1970's.

Much to your amazement, engineers at Chrysler, integrated the "B" / "RB" engine into the '67 and beyond "A" Body chassis long before you ever knew what was going on. Cut the BS. If you think you had anything to to do with this "Discovery", you are a simpleton

Howd they shoe horn an LS5/LS6 In between the fenders of the super vega's and what spring held it up. Because BM cars always had the perfect stance. Love this car. Needs a cross ram and a M22 And the proper solid lifter cam out of the 67-69 Z's

I go to about 3-4 AMC car shows on the East Coast a year for about 10 years now and you see about 3 to 5 of these 71' Hornet SC/360 at each show and the big Chryslers at Carlisle,PA show in the late summer has a big AMC section and about 4-5 SC/360's show up for that one also. There are many Koool AMC's at these car shows !! 👍 Semper Fi

I have a 1973 Pontiac LeMans Sport Coupe with the 400 engine same engine as this. It runs great. It doesn't have the hood and the badge and has automatic transmission. Doesn't have the 455 engine. But, it still runs great. They have a much better ride than the cars from 1972 and before.

Too bad Motion wasn't around long enough to put an LS6 in the Chevette 😲 They certainly would have built it , if you had the money to do it 😅

Once upon a time, I owned and used as a daily driver, red on red 1964 990H, 327 automatic {no twin stick) with a tachometer on the center console. I often regret selling it.

Perhaps AMC sold the twin shifters ( lightening rods) patent to GM.

Cool informative video, but you are wrong about the Lightning Rods shifters. They never came in an 87 442. They came in 83 and 84 Hurst Olds.

Like you said, AMC was ahead of its time. They spent money on pioneering, not just manufacturing. That’s why they were broke most of the time. The head designer, Dick Teague was a genius. That car you got there is the first year to have curved side windows. GM and Ford didn’t have that until 1965. I had a 65 Rambler Classic 770 back then. It had the 287 V8. The only car I’ve had that I couldn’t hear the motor running at all. Sometimes I would stop to talk to someone and when I was done, I would turn the key and grind the flywheel because it was already running. It also had split front seats that reclined. I installed one of those reverb units and a rear speaker. My passengers couldn’t believe the sound of that. It had a beautiful dashboard. I wish I had it now…

I had a 63 rambler twin stick 6cyl back in '73 my first car. As far as shifting, it's a 5 speed, very close ratio. Not a 6 speed. To use O/D in first gear is not good

And on the 1/4 panels it sain Motion Super Vega and they had LT1 350 in them not a 302. 302's were stick shift motors they never had automatics. This is just a vega someone built the way they wanted. According to the tag this car was blue when new. You guys should really do some research before making a video and get some video skills while your at it.

302 was not part of Grabber package. One could be had with an inline 6. Grabber package in 1971 also included rear deck "duckbill" spoiler and "fog lights" in the grill.
