The chest drawers of lovely mahogany. Upholstery and beveled mirrors. Cut vineleaf in the glass. Fireplace was gorgeous, Stove and oven, coal. Thank John, I am sure you and other artisan crafters will carefully restore it. I would like to see pictures of those special horses, too. Thank you for your detailed explanations.

Oh my, that interior takes my breath away. Polished mahogany. Gold leaf stenciling . Great carvings , horse's head. Oil lamp with chimney. Quality glass decorated wit roses. Embellishments of motifs of fruit. Velvet padding in sleeping area. Didn't know about tents for sleeping or cooking outside. I am sure they were efficient and decorated too? I hope there are historic photographs at a museum. Fascinating. I appreciate this information and the opportunity to view this.

Awesome presentation. I like all of your explanations. Thank you John. Thank for the nice video. Someone's family loved this van and took excellent care of it. An important piece of cultural history.

Amazing speed up those hills, that 4x4 went very well with such a load. Pity it couldn't last just that bit longer to get it home but you did well to find a stopping place. It looked like a very hill and heavy load! Good luck with the restoration!

Thank you for sharing this, I am building a Dunton reading style vardo (1895 -1900 style) and this video has been a treasure trove of info. Mine is a mid range vardo with only four cut glass knobs (green) on each shutter.

Such a joy! A novella that was there to be fully brought to life on the screen. None of butchering necessary to bring a full length novel to the screen. The success of this film reminds me of Babette's Feast, drawn fully to life from a short story. A lesson for screenwriters and producers.

Soooo beautiful. I swear I might have been a Gypsy in a past life because everything about the culture just seems so wonderful and welcoming to me. I draw and paint, and even before I was aware of the real Romany culture, I would still somehow end up making art very similar to traditional Gypsy art, like displayed in these wagons. It's so fantastic and so surreal.
