I really don't care for all the killing in this anime ...But putting my difference aside....I have to admit this is one of my favorites of all times....I would love to see a live movie version of this anime with some good actors hell they made so many so why not this one ...But that's my dream who knows ....I have it in my collection already.....LOL

A little odd seeing the Season 2 song, paired with the season 1 artwork. I find it a littl sad that the biggest positive for me of this season 2 series was this Openning. The 2nd season was very disappointing. Thankfully it doesnt take away from the masterpiece of season 1.

Season 2 isn't that bad, in my opinion. And yeah...the manga. When you know how it ends... You can't feel anymore. The manga hurts like hell. So I like the opening of Season 2 a lot, it's fresh and heartwarming !

@@FranBunnyFFXII The change from S1 to S2 in term of graphic is a thing that clearly caught eyes, the S1 is more faithful to the drawings of the manga however, the " colourful " side of the S2 is really fresh and give more "hope" especially with this opening. Message of hope is actually Gunslinger Girl message. I remember more the opening and the ending of the second season than the first, they are way more memorable, in my opinion. In term of story, both are quite faithful to the manga, what the first season does good is adding a background story and screen time to Elsa. Which she doesn't have in the manga. I think Il Teatrino isn't bad, it's just different and compare both seasons is okay but I think you should more compare them to the manga rather than between each other.

I legit want to cry when I hear the first part of this song because they vow to protect them but do they really or is it just conditioning some of the handlers do care about the girls but the poor girls ugggg

It really does depend and is generally up to the person in question. Some, like Elsa's handler Lauro, really don't care at all about their charges (which, as we have seen, can and will end horribly), while people like Jean care to some degree but still ultimately only see the girls as tools and nothing else. At the other end are people like Victor, who sees Triela as someone to show affection to and Jose, who sees Henrietta as a substitute for his dead younger sister. As for the girls, it also likely depends. Triela for example is 100% convinced her feelings for Victor are genuine love, while Henrietta describes them as a love- *like* feeling instead. To some degree, the girls are of course conditioned to feel and show affection towards their handlers (makes cooperation easier, after all), but I do think that it cannot be all and they can grow genuine affection, too. But well... maybe there is no clear answer.

I love the irony of this song, its generally from a parent to a child but in this case its from the girls to their handlers (the father figures) vowing to protect them

busheyrj Not true the words do not match the song. I am fluent in Japanese and the subs are always 70-90% wrong and songs are always nearly all wrong. Sorry but learn Japanese and you'll see it nothing what you said. Its more of a Child seeing the world.

Presumably, but still, leaving the status quo unresolved is a letdown. The methods of Section 2 are an atrocity; someone needs to make sure there would be no more brainwashing going on and the cyborg tech is put to good ends.

Lastly, that kind of story would be a betrayal of the series and everything it stands for. The entire premise of the story is that we KNOW they're going to die. The beauty of the show is that, despite having suffered so much, despite being forced to be monsters, and despite their own knowledge of their own expiration dates, they're still trying to make the best of their fleeting lives and burning brightly while doing so. It's what makes every moment precious.

Further, would the girls themselves even -want- to be human again at this stage? They're so mentally broken and brainwashed that even the possibility of being severed from their fratello causes them to self-destruct messily, and Triela has acknowledged that just loving Hillshire in the time she has left and then dying with him is good enough. Without the girls' cooperation, how would you kidnap and restrain one of them to change them back, given their strength and speed and resistance to harm?

How would they be human again at this point? Over 50% of their bodies have been replaced by implants, and the only thing that keeps them from shutting down is the Medicine, which is also killing them slowly. Where would all the excess tissue required to recreate their human bodies come from? At the very least, Triela's missing an eye and a leg. Henrietta's missing a womb, an eye, and a thumb. Rico's missing all four of her original defective limbs.

great anime for sure what do you think ben? ben:"yeah this thing is awesome.great song too there".yeah ben is my rat pet guy i found him in the sewers yesterday or something. so anyway this anime is very cool awesome story and what not.its about some girls who get exploited by an italian government agency to stop the RF terrorists fuckers.the girls get fucked into cyborgs and the project remains covert and struggels to stay afloat throughout the anime.****4 stars must buy dvd set :D

@dmmj909 / I thought that too, but I just watch it some and it was really just the way they made some of the parts. The story is still as amazing and moving as the first. I really loved it. I gave it a 10 out of 10 for sure. :D It is one of the best animes Ive ever seen in my life. :D
