I'm retired from a decorating business and part of it was to cover old lampshades. I always used flame retardant silk to line them with. The outer fabric could be almost anything however dark fabric is only for mood lighting and not for reading, You will lose light also the more you glue on such as granny squares but it is a lot of fun to work with. Have a ball you'all

I think disaster relief organizations prefer cash type donations because it is less labor intensive, otherwise they will have to hire or ask for volunteers to receive the donations. Yet handmade blankets are more than just a blanket. It is made with love that cannot be bought with a cash donation

I am impressed that you work on so many projects and venues concurrently, and be creative too. Yes, artists as well as fashion designers reflect the mood of the times. The threats of climate change, economic divide, and authoritarianism, which in my opinion are the result of huge population growth worldwide, drives my creative work. I am hoping for a paradigm shift in our consciousness. My work reflects this desire, wabisabi and mottainai, we have to let go of our ego and work together. Through meditation, I believe our consciousness is raised. I strive to create a meditative state from chaos, that's the hope that's in my heart as I create.

Thank you for the tips to start drawing again. I like the idea of drawing repetitious patterns. Even doodling encourages hand eye coordination which seems to be my problem. My brain is unsure how to communicate with my hand, it hesitates. So to compensate, I noticed I'm drawing very fast, as if to bypass my conscious mind. The result is fairly interesting. I am able to capture the essence better but it's pretty messy and rough. Fifty years ago, I mainly drew with charcoal. I concentrated on where the shades were first then drew in the details last. Another good practice I like is to paint on a collage, emphasizing colors, and shapes to bring the piece together. Also to copy on paper with paint fabric designs, just as an exercise.

Your drawing on the pot is wonderful. I used to draw almost daily over 50 years ago, but haven't drawn much over the years. I'd like to draw again

I find the most interesting things at thrift stores. It's much more fun to shop there than a new retail store. At thrift stores we can imagine stories that go with each piece. Much more fun!! So glad I've found your site. Your channel is wonderful! 😊

Love all of your ideas!! As an other idea how about making different size gift bags (could be made from yoyos, or Boro inspired, with beads and etc. these gift bags could be different sizes and could circulate as a gift keep on giving.
