Ich kann auch nüchtern Denken, diese ganze Drogen Szene ist Scheiße und Schadet der Gesundheit. Jeder der sich was anderes einredet, hat keine Ahnung 🤷♂️

You have obviously failed to hear the Highwaymen on this cut.
@custerranch7 ай бұрын
@@galewinds7696 actually no, I haven't failed. I thought the Highwaymen version was too overproduced, too '80s, and I didn't like the changed chord progression and the lack of modulations and harmonies.

History repeats the old conceits The glib replies the same defeats Keep your finger on important issues With crocodile tears and a pocketful of tissues I'm just the oily slick On the windup world of the nervous tick In a very fashionable hovel I hang around dying to be tortured You'll never be alone in the bone orchard This battle with the bottle is nothing so novel So in this almost empty gin palace Through a two-way looking glass You see your Alice You know she has no sense For all your jealousy In a sense she still smiles very sweetly Charged with insults and flattery Her body moves with malice Do you have to be so cruel to be callous And now you find you fit this identikit completely You say you have no secrets And then leave discreetly I might make it California's fault Be locked in Geneva's deepest vault Just like the canals of Mars and the Great Barrier Reef I come to you beyond belief My hands were clammy and cunning She's been suitably stunning But I know there's not a hope in Hades All the laddies cat call and wolf whistle So called gentlemen and ladies Dog fight like rose and thistle I got a feeling I'm going to get a lot of grief Once this seemed so appealing Now I am beyond belief I got a feeling I'm going to get a lot of grief Once this seemed so appealing Now I am beyond belief I got a feeling I'm going to get a lot of grief Once this seemed so appealing Now I am beyond belief

This was the song that knocked me out and introduced me to MK. How this song is not on the debut album is beyond me? Anyone know if it’s a cover or an original song by Michael? It’s an amazing song either way. I love the uptempo shuffle with majestic throwback production. A timeless track.
@ethanallen4749 Жыл бұрын
It's an original. It was released on a 5 song EP album however it wasn't put into an actual album. Since then, the EP has become unavailable for purchase or streaming which is why you don't hear it often.

Why isn’t this song included on the album on Spotify, Apple music etc? It used to be the first track on ”Imperial bedroom”. Anyone who knows?

Utter masterpiece. A lifetime ago I was working at the Orpheum theater in Minneapolis when E Costello came through with Nick Lowe (early 80s). It was a slow day and I sat in the auditorium while they set up. Eventually Elvis went on stage mid set up, sat on a stool and strummed his guitar and crooned a few melodies - obviously working out some new tune. I remember how exciting it was, me being so young and watching this world class band get ready for the show. And thinking about how many countless cities they would be playing, and what an amazing life that must be.

I like the ambiguity of the line "through a two way looking glass, you see your (you're) Alice." It could be either your Alice- yours. Or it could be you are Alice. Brilliant.
