Thank You - for covering this song and doing it your way. Your repetition of the last couplet is the heart of the song - poverty, wealth, sorrow and celebration. The way you use your voice and tempo makes the story a little less mournful than GL’s - and that is important. It takes the focus from observational to accusatory. Something to be considered in a holiday season. Well Done. (Please consider covering Summer Side of Life - perhaps the live BBC version). Thanks again.

Thank you for the tip and for the suggestion! That's something to think about when I play this out for sure. And can do, GL has so many classics.

So beautiful... can you record just the guitar part for this so I and others can sing it? It would be a gift for my soul. :D I will send you a video of me singing it... you can post it to your channel.. maybe start a new trend of people singing to your instrumentation. :D

One of my favorite Lightfoot songs - written on a rainy night in Cleveland (?) while on the road - I digress, very very good job😎. Thank you and now I’m a subscriber.

That was really good. That being said, you took a LOT of liberties with this arrangement. Like....a LOT. That doesn't mean this wasn't really good because it was. It was great! But this was so many liberties that it was basically a whoie different song. Like, completely different. This is more like a song inspired by Bruce Hornsby's mandolin rain rather than a cover of it. Very interesting take. I enjoyed this. Clearly you are both very talented too.
@LukeWoltanskiMusicАй бұрын
Thanks so much! We definitely love to wander a bit on this one - if you get a chance take a look at the version that Bruce did with Ricky Skaggs. That's the version of Mandolin Rain we based this performance off of!
