Excellent speech, in evidenced and experienced based substance and inclusive/friendly tone. Masterful even. How important has creativity, music, theatre, film been for the global projection of the UK and for the country's GDP?. How important is the advertising industry for the UK economy, in terms of GDP? (clue:- world's number one marketing agency conglomerate WWP(a UK company) has a turnover of $17billion- employing 109.000 people worldwide, many in the UK ). Not to mention global many other entertainment icons like the Beatles , with a long etc. etc.etc. Authorities should work hard to ensure this incredible heritage (art, humanities, entertainment ) is not diminished but is nurtured properly in schools and at grass roots levels in towns with imaginative local initiatives, like the ones Julie mentions and others. This generates business and with it prosperity and inspiration: a virtuous circle. As Julie warned, If humanities and arts are squeezed out of state education and local theatres closed down, the scope for developing creative talent, will be confined to those who can afford private education, ignoring the vast wealth of potential in state schools and small towns. Slight tangent: but my personal gripe is how poor rail networks in the UK (outside London), are holding small towns back. Imagine the commuter and footfall spill over from Manchester to a town like Accrington (and others en route ) with incredible stocks of amazing parks and Victorian /Edwardian houses, with quick access to the beautiful countryside (not to mention Pendle hill, Ribble valley ) if a train could take you to Manchester in 30 minutes, or less) (same for Liverpool, Leeds etc.). High speed train networks have improved inter regional connectivity in most EU countries, improving easier transportation of goods and people--commuters, or weekend visits, ( and with this wealth) to the regions outside the capital cities. As this may never happen in the north of England in our lifetimes (UK has suffered from a lack of long term strategic planning for many years ) , arts and entertainment initiatives provide a quick and easier path to generate inspiration, confidence, belief, motivation, happiness and footfall to the town. All of which can be translated into value (monetary and other ) for the local, regional and national economy. Hats off to Julie. Bravo. Let's hope others with real influence understand the implications of her speech and have the desire to act and make things happen. signed: Julie's best mate🙂.

This is nothing more than a PR exercise. Judge politicians by their actions, not their words! Sara Britcliffe voted not to call on the Government to develop and implement a plan to eliminate the substantial majority of transport emissions by 2030. Sara Britcliffe voted not to require a "climate and nature emergency impact statement" as part of any proposal for financial assistance under a United Kingdom Internal Market Act. Sara Britcliffe voted not to require ministers to have due regard to the target of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 when taking actions including setting up agricultural subsidy schemes. Sara Britcliffe also voted against extending the free school meals scheme........the irony :)

She is the youngest Tory MP which is honestly quite shocking. She consistently votes against young people's futures while being a young person herself. Is she that stupid? Is the short term gains for her that great? I understand the many older tory members' decisions to increase their personal wealth at the expense of the country by being currupt and theiving b'stards because they will all dead in a few years and the only ones to suffer the consequences are the younger generations, which includes her. Honestly baffling.
