I bought my small MGT on the website for the Black Friday 2023 promotion and received it at the start of July 2024, so quite a bit quicker than your two years. But the prices have only gone up every Kickstarter, so I guess I got mine at a good time, but not the best time. And I was lucky enough to have originally ordered in elm, which I was able to upgrade to cherry for free. Maybe I should've paid for the discounted upgrade to black walnut instead, but now I feel better going for all cherry accessories. And of course I love the table.

Always amzing how much people convince themselves how good Wyrmwood is to justify the price. Fact is, most quality wood workers will build an amazing table of better quality for far less. Most Wyrmwood is mass produced and it isn't anything special for build quality. Again, find a local wood worker and you can get a SIGNIFICANTLY better table at a FAR better price.
@triple_lei5 ай бұрын
And can this phantom local woodworker guarantee the table will be compatible with everything else Wyrmwood offers? You're buying into an ecosystem here. Though I guess it's possible if you already have a small Wyrmwood table to point at and say "Make this but bigger."
@mattmc204 ай бұрын
@@triple_lei a good wood worker yes. But again, the ecosystem is MASSIVELY over priced in every respect. A table from wyrmwood with rails for pieces that will cost you $12-15k can easily be done for $4k with a good woodworker.
@doodoo2065Ай бұрын

It's cool, but i get more satisfaction making my own stuff. It took a long time to get all the necessary tools, and now I'm lacking time of course. But most people aren't willing to drop quite as much money on tools, or have the time/knowhow and years of practise to work up to large scale and finely detailed projects. So honestly it's pricey, but to do similar yourself, you'll still approach the $1k mark in material costs alone, and be prepared to hit another 2-3k in the power tools you'll need to meet similar accuracy. So if you can afford it and have no interest in doing it yourself, I'd say it's worth it, as you would spend similar amounts or more on custom work, workout any of the features. You could do the entire thing with hand tools and drop your cost on tools down to under 1k, but i suggest those people take a block of wood, and try smoothing it down evenly with a hand planer. Then imagine doing that over several pieces, on both sides, to make a 6x4 foot or larger surface.

My thought is that heirloom quality and build it yourself do not go together at all. My group commissioned a local furniture maker (well kinda local, 4 hours away) and we had a custom made solid cherry table ( 3.5' x 8') built with all the features of this table plus a few more for about 1/3 of the price. It's one solid piece of furniture that took a forklift to load into my trailer and 5 strong guys to get from the trailer into the house. I consider that to be a heirloom table. And since I picked it up, shipping was free. That said, the table itself here looks really nice. And as long as your happy with it, that's all that matters.

Don´t even consider Wyrmwood if you are not located in the US. International Backers have not receved their table yet from the last kickstarter. I paid close to 4000 dollars for a similar table that is in this video. Wyrmwood held my money for 2 years, and then tried to charge me 4500 dollars for shipping to Iceland. To add insult to injury, they could only refund me 90% after holding my money for 2 years. Shit Company.

Bit of a critique on your review; it seems less "review" and more "here's a commercial for Wyrmwood's next Kickstarter campaign which you can go and back right now". I know you said you paid for your table, but there's certainly a lot of Kickstarter placement/promo scattered throughout your video.
@dungeonartist Жыл бұрын
That’s fair. I don’t have many criticisms of the product. I genuinely have loved it, and so that came across in the review. As far as talking about the Kickstarter, there’s a lot of new stuff that addressed a few of the issues that I had, so I wanted to make sure I talked about that. Thank you for your critique. I appreciate the input, and will try to improve on the next one. Cheers!
