Hi Daisy, Thank you for posting this video. I had my pacemaker implant a few days ago. Like for you, it just came out of the blue and I'm researching what the heck just happened to me. Much of your story has parallels to mine, including recently losing a sibling. Best of everything to you and your family.

I enjoined the video very much. My husband just had one put in, his heart rate was 34. He fainted 3 times before having the surgery. His pacemaker is a different and is placed in chest. His first follow up was good and so far all good. Thank you again for the story

Yes these situations require a lot of mental discipline. I've had a resting heart rate of 35 beats per minute for at least two decades and periods of complete heart block. The decision to get a pacemaker is always up to the patient. I am asymptomatic so I monitor carefully. The docs are always on the cautious side and will recommend pacemaker if you have complete heart block. If heart block comes on suddenly though, there is a chance it could be reversible due to Lyme disease, a virus, autoimmune reaction or other carditis. If you are asymptomatic don't be rushed and scared into a decision just because of numbers.

I am getting my pacemaker on August 16th. Mine has been down for a few years. Starting having symptoms for the past year. Had a monitor for 12 days. Getting down to 33. 75% of the time below 60. I am not an athlete.

I had a pacemaker implanted on July 25th after my resting heart rate dropped to 35. When I walked my heart rate stayed the same but my blood pressure would go up to 180/40 and I would feel like passing out. I was on a monitor and my cardiologist called me in that morning and told me I needed a pacemaker. Now I feel much better and my heart is working normally. I worry about the battery draining since its keeping my resting heart rate at 60 while I sleep mainly. We will see how it goes. Good luck and keep your arm down. Follow the directions and you will be fine.

Thank you for telling us your experience. I am dealing with a similar situation. My iWatch is giving me notifications of 10 minute heart rate below 40.

How many carnations did you use?
@daisyzamora1293
@daisyzamora1293 5 ай бұрын
For this Lei I used about 50 Carnations! The amount you will need will depend on the length of your Lei and the size of the actual carnation flower. Thats why I like to open up the flowers to create that fuller look!

I used roughly 50 carnation flowers. The amount you will need depends on long your Lei is and also the size of the carnation flower. These were fairly big so I could have used less but I really like the fuller look!

How do you keep the flowers fresh?
@daisyzamora1293
@daisyzamora1293 5 ай бұрын
I bought the flowers 2 days before making the Lei and I actually like opening up the flowers and letting them sit out with just cold water. Once I did create the Lei I put it in my refrigerator with a few napkins underneath it and on top of it to prevent any moisture from ruining the flowers. =]

How long did the flower last?
@daisyzamora1293
@daisyzamora1293 5 ай бұрын
The duration of the Lei will depend on the weather and where it is kept. I created the Lei a day before the graduation and kept it in the refrigerator and took it out about 25 minutes before it was picked up. It typically lasts 3 days thats if after the person wears it they put it in a cold place. Carnations typically last longer than other flowers like the traditional orchids used.=]

Hi Daisy, thank you for sharing your story. This really helps people who are going through the same situation. Like you, I have AV Block 2.1, and I had my pacemaker installed in 2020. I am 59 years old. I was going to have the Micra installed but at the last min I decided to go for the traditional pacemaker with two leads. I have been fine for the last three and a half years, but on my last checkup they told me that I have fractured one of the leads [ aorta lead ]. I kayak, and swim allot so I think this is how I damaged / fractured the lead. It is not a problem as the pacemaker still works with the ventricle lead only, because in my situation with 2.1 block, my heart only requires the one lead to function efficiently. They will have to change the damaged lead eventually and have suggested that I do this when the pacemaker battery has depleted and requires replacement. Lead removal / replacement is not an easy operation so I am not looking forward to that. I think when my pacemaker requires replacement [ 3 to 4 years ] I will ask for it to be changed for a Micra or Abbott headless pacemaker. Once again, thank you so much for your video. Kind Regards Vincent from Ireland

Getting any type of surgery is definitely nerve racking but hopefully you will have an easy transition to the Micra pacemaker. Before my surgery I was told about the great benefits of the Micra compared to the older versions and given you are pretty active it might suit your lifestyle a lot better. Thank you for taking the time to watch my video!
