Renovations are very nice and thoughtfully done. Satillo tiles would have been a nice enhamcement to a historical home like this. But overall, a quality job.

The explanations given to remove the fireplace were poor justifications to satisfy the desire for an open view backyard. Big mistake in my opinion.

It's a nice home, but not MCM. It is now just modern. Modern and Mid Century Modern aren't necessarily the same thing. Wonder what it looked like on the inside before the remodel. Was it MCM or had it already been 'updated' at some point? I bought an MCM home that had been updated in the 80s. I remodeled back to MCM standards but that isn't everyone's taste.

Why paint the house black? Is it Halloween all the time?

Woww that was a lot of work - totally transformed the house.

I definitely think it looks much better! Not sure if it falls into mid century modern but ...it is no longer a common tract house.

I’m with the crowd on this one. I would much have rather seen a sympathetic remodel.

The only mid-century thing about this before and after is that the original house was built in 1953.

Definitely not a mid century home anymore.

I thought your finished design photo was the, "Before", picture... Taking out the fireplace was a mistake. You couldn't think of any clever shelving or better yet, should have painted it white and made it central to everything else... What a difference big colorful modern art works would make... Also, one more tip for you, outside, instead of having your patio furniture pushed back flush against the hedge line, pull it away from the edge and create a centered gathering section of furniture in the middle of the outdoor patio... It will be a lot more inviting and warm for conversation and meeting... Try it, photograph it and see which way looks better... Lots of creativity in your design but need artwork to really impress... Outside was very nice and the house updating impressive... Outside is definitely your forte'... Thank you...

exactly! fire places are a staple to ALL mid century homes, and in some cases a focal point of the home..well thats now in a landfill.

In other news how to ruin a beautiful mid century ranch with character and replace it with boring bland griege that you’ll get swallowed in. Yawn.

The built in refrigerators are going to cost a bundle to replace. Personally I prefer designing for plug and play replacements.

It is nice, but you took a mid century home and just made 21st century modern. Besides there is no color. It is nice but nothing original here.

Thanks for the comment Mark! Controlling dust in a remodel is a priority for us. Cleanliness on a construction site is a sign of an organized and safety-minded contractor. A little extra effort elevates good to great. We plan on producing more videos on construction tips in the near future. Our next video will be post in the next few weeks on design. Thanks Again, Ryan Heiman
