Although it is true that the film is based on a Japanese manga, only the setting of a private prison was used, and the entire content of the movie was rewritten in a completely different way. I hope this helps

The statute of limitations for criminal charges is 15 years, so the meaning of 15 years is this.

Did she just say she would tell EVERYONE if she saw a brother and sister going at it? Wow! What a SUPER GOSSIP! Nobody tell this woman anything private.. I would have kept my mouth shut... No matter how gross I found it, it was still consensual, so it's not any of my business. Moral of the story, keep your mouth shut because snitches get stitches...

Something I just learned: Oh Dae-su was imprisoned for fifteen years not only because of his daughter's age, but because, at the time, the maximum sentence in Korea for murder was fifteen years.

the statute of limitations to prosecute a murderer was 15 years at the time. murderers can be sentenced death or to life at the time. he was released from private prison on the day when his falsely accused crime can not be punished. being improsoned for 15 years is because of that, not much related to age of his daughter

I love this movie for the gut punch at the end knowing lee wo jin really had in control all movie long he got his revenge but even at the end he don't get any satisfaction and remember his sister/love and f himself, and mirrors oh dae su he now "completed" his revenge he knows why and lee is dead but there isn't happy ending to him.

Just finished all of you guys' atla videos and I loved them, the discussion and vibe between you two is so great and entertaining! And because I also saw some of your Miyazaki videos, as someone who also likes Studio Ghibli, I have to recommend Grave of the Fireflies if you haven't seen it. Its director is Isao Takahata, another incredible director co funded Ghibli with Miyazaki. The film is INCREDIBLE and you'll be surprised how DEEP animated movie can be, and it was out in 1988!

After watching your reaction I knew I had to check out the break down. Thanks for not droning over the differences and was refreshing to hear some takes that are quite different from most other reactors (on ep 3 for example). lexi's middle finger was spicyyyy Initially there were a lot of folks binging the series before watching the live action and I was also thinking about doing that but thankfully I didn't have the time to. I think it helped with my enjoyment of the show's take on ATLA. To quote Monk Gyatso, "[ATLA] will always be [our ATLA]." and hope they do make a season 2 and explore more sides to the story not covered in / building on the animation (e.g., more Fire Nation internal politics?)

Ooooo i like this sorta talk and it's right down my alley. Also in terms of the "green screen" gripe, they actually shot a ton of the movie using the volume which is a cutting edge screen tech with moving backgrounds aka a virtual production and it was the same thing they shot the Mandolorian on.

I overall had to let go some of the things from the animated series and understand it would be almost impossible to get everything right I do wish they had done some things different but overall I give it like a 7/10 because they really did do an overall amazing job capturing the story more than the movie did.

I enjoyed your reaction overall and the discussion was nice and in depth. However, in my personal opinion it would be nice to have a bit more of your reaction in the video. I understand the value of Patreon to content creators but in terms of getting more viewership you may want to consider adding a bit more of your reaction to your youtube releases as well. Chopping a 2+ hour movie down to about ten minutes of reaction is a really significant portion of the reaction itself which is what the majority of viewers come to see. Just my 2 cents. Good luck.

Hei Bei's design reminds me of the creatures from the Quiet Place and Venom from the 90s Spiderman cartoo, which I think is killer inspiration. An adaptation will necessitate changes, and I think with the total run time for the adaptation being longer than the source material we will get story adjustments to cover new ground that ultimately honors the source material themes. One can hope...

i'm soo nervous about this but there seemed to be more positives here than negatives? not a big fan of the rushed way some of the kids delivery sounds, but the visuals and music are wonderful (BIG fan of the urgency of the music during the attack on the air temple, i hope they keep that in the show because the air nomads are my fave and i neeed to see them done justice). also season one was the most cartoonish, so the tone sort of wibbling between epic and silly is something i'm trying not to worry about lol. imagine the difference between the tone of this and the season two trailer, when we eventually get it

Yes yes!! Glad to see u guys back with more Avatar stuff. So this season is book 1 of Avatar. Its 8 episodes an hour long. All the episodes will drop the same day from the reports we heard. The show isn’t a 1 to 1 remake. The core story is the same but they are gonna change a few things to fit the live action. So we saw Ozai and Azula in the trailer so we can assume they are gonna play a bigger role. We see the fire nation attacking the airtemple, so it looks like they’re gonna show the genocide. I think this show will turn out good. If people are expecting to see a 1to1 exact replica of Avatar, they’re gonna be disappointed. Everything ive seen from the show-runner and the cast interviews, theyre all massive fans of the show and seem to take it seriously. Only thing im worried is how earthbending looks and Bumi cause i wasnt the biggest fan of how both looked but I understand how hard both are to make.
@spicytunapod
@spicytunapod 9 ай бұрын
It feels SOOO GOOOD to be talking about avatar again omg. And wait that’s actually crazy they’re gonna release them all at once 👀 And I think I LIKE that it’s not a 1x1 remake. It’s more important to honor the integrity of the story than try to replicate everything. The shows gonna be awesome. We can’t wait AH.

@chazo1367

Earthbending with Bumi is fine because he is only testing Aang as context, to prep him for his journey and to mess with him and not try and hurt his old friend. And you won't find someone in real life who is as jacked as Bumi is at such an old age so it's fine. He still looks fine, even got the armpit hair. Long as he is still giving us his insanity, I'll be happy.
@benlezmh1835
@benlezmh1835 9 ай бұрын
@@chazo1367 I mean no offense but your first point is rubbish as we actually see Bumi in the cartoon throwing and chucking huge rocks and boulders at him, thats not going easy on him. And Im not asking to find someone whos old and jacked. Im saying I dont like the prosthetic they used. Id rather they just hired an old actor who’s in moderately in good shape instead of a young one with a fake build.

1:00 excellent question, bro. according to the net, 1~2 men dies from that every single year in south korea, but don't get fooled. that "live octopus eating" skill is to be earned, like, if you were a kid in 1950s or 1960s, etc. or even before that, i'm not 100 % sure. as far as i know, some old korean male only do that, to show his freinds, how manly he is. there might be a peer pressure, too. i wouldn't know. younger generation try a small bit of the tentacle, like an inch or 1~2 cm long. the trick is, i can tell you this as i've done it before in my life, to chew vigorously, as if your life's depend on it. after chewing that jelly like octopus tentacle piece for like ... say ... i don't know ... for 3~4 min, you can be sure that's dead and will not stick at the top of your mouth ceiling, so, having some vege and some sauce with lots of rice, you can eat it. it's like a challenge. if you search for some you tube video on foreinger visitin south korea, you'll be able to find heaps, i guess, along with that hot korean noodle challenge. 불닭 볶음면. also, there's some bug eating, like 뻔데기, which to my defence, is not like a daily diet of korean people anymore. this, also was popular in 1950~1960-ish, i guess, when there was nothing much to eat, i suppose. bottom line don't try this at home, bro, you know, eating an adult-sized live octopus raw, just to prove yourself to your friends. as far as i know, only old people do that. and dies, every single year. if you watch this korean movie "목포는 항구다" = "mokpo is a port", you be able to see this korean gangster boss force the newbie to prove himself of how desperate he wants to join his gang and as of some sort of ceremony of not to betray him or something, i don't knows. i am not a gangster, so... 🤸‍♂🤸‍♂

Actually the original manga does not contain any incestuous topics. The reasoning of the villain locking up the protagonist for 10 years is because the protagonist, the popular kid shed a tear, when the bullied, quiet, kid version of the villain sang during a music class. The manga justifies this through a great number of volumes and obviously it was more about significance of the guy sympathizing with the bullied guy's inner darkness triggering the revenge rather than the magnitude of the action-sheding a single drop of tear.
