Hi Nigel, what rod, reel and line do you recommend for a beginner wanting to catch bass with a lure?
@tollesbury14 ай бұрын
I would go for a 7/8 foot rod. Casting weight of 15 to 35 grams or there about. A small 2500 reel with 20 pound braid and a 15 pound leader. Don’t go expensive till you get the hang of things. Rod you can get for under £50. Reel about 25. Braid about a £10 and you probably have some 15 pound mono somewhere for leader. I fish as cheap as I can. Still catch loads of bass…..look on marketplace for reel deals but I would always buy a new rod to start with. 👍👍🐟🐟. Good luck. Any other help just ask. 🐟👍

Hi Nigel, good fun getting mullet on baited spinner, looks a killer method for tiny bass too! Have you tried artificial worms like the Isome as a comparison?
@tollesbury111 ай бұрын
Hi Peter….great fun all round with the spinner. The bass smash it and now I know the mullet do to👍👍🐟. Need to get my hands on the isome worms to try. I had one pack of rag which lasted me 5 days with many trips in the fridge after. By the end I had very little fresh worm. 😂😂. I topped it up with a few lobworm out the garden and although I didn’t catch a mullet on them the bass smashed them! A cheap alternative to rag as all your trying to do is instigate a strike from the mullet during the chase of the spinner. I’ll try it again and get some isome too. 👍👍🐟🐟

Little beggars! Just get the worm straight for the mullet and bang they chew it up. The saltings are a nursery ground for them. Once they get bigger they will school up and leave the river to come back a decent size. Great fun though. Perfect mini bass. Fight well too. 👍😂😂🐟
