It was great at 6:45 to see a Buckeye Crossbuck. I haven't seen one in years.The State of Ohio developed the design in the 1990 or so when I was working in the US House of Representatives for a Member of Congress who served on what was then called the House Public Works and Transportation Committee. The state folkls brought me a severall 18 inch high models that were crafted in a prison shop. I showed them to committee staff and they inserted language authorizing their use in the 1991 transportation bill. I was prouid of that accomplishment. A study fouond it reduced collisions and saved lives. I still have a couple of the models.

Now some more insider baseball. Getting the X-buck written into law was a happy accident! I took a model to committee staff only to show it to them, nothing more. I made no ask of them, and expected a followup conversation that never materialized. A few weeks later the committee's draft of the 1991 transportatrion bill was released, and a staffer who saw the model told me to tell my Congressman boss that his X-buck was in the bill. Yikes! I said I was just showing it to him, not asking for it in the bill. The staffer just smiled saying I had to deal with that part. Anyway, it was just a short term demonstration project to study whether it helped, made no difference, or hurt safety. Turns out it helps. By the time the study was complete I had left the Hill, my boss had retired, and without a champion there was no one to push to make it permanent. Moral of the story, one person CAN make a difference.

Maybe I am missing this somewhere, but what state is this? I love there the last shot when the train hit that snow covered trestle Bridge at speed and all that snow that is inject it off of the bridge because of the vibration of the train, very cool!

Well, it was great to see and hear the ol' EMD SD's hard at work, but I didn't see no slipping, as was suggested in the title. Beautiful shots and vantage points in the snow though.

There was no major slipping but you can hear minor wheel slip from the first two engines in a few of the shots

do they have any interchanges or customers down that way? i didn't think they had a lot of activity east of Rook

They interchange with NS in Mingo Junction, Clairton, AVR at Bruceton, SWP at Ownesdale, and CSX at Connellsville. They also serve the MarkWest facility in Westland, although that is West of Rook. There's also a customer along the Mifflin Branch and they serve the coke plant at Monessen along the Matt Branch
