Thank you for this video, this was sooooo helpful and super easy to understand. Can’t wait to implement and see what I come up with. Curious though, is this also what you would do at night? Could you do another video at night??

Excellent job! Should it be in JPEG when composting 4 images? Isn’t better in Raw?

It might be good, but their customer relations need to be improved, and delivery times are non existence. Delivery is you'll get when we can be bothered to dispatch.

Am I right that the crucial element in all this is the grid? It seems that the lighting set-up is almost a fragile thing, and that it collapses unless the grid is used. Theirs no way to preserve the softness of the background light without using the grid. Is that accurate?

base iso of 250 is disappointing. the tech still needs to evolve here with the global shutter speed.

Thanks soooo much for this. I bought my first flash yesterday (a Quadralite Pulse 800). This video, in its command of (and complete dismissal of) ambient light is an inspiration. And not a light meter in evidence! Your style of teaching is wonderful. I've been deep in learinng in the arena of large format photography, and I don't think that I've had a lesson as straightforward, direct, and helpful.

Love it when someone says I made a mistake and explains it, this really helps for when mistakes are made and how to fix it. Love the results and the way you spotted a great spot to set up the photo, that shows just how good you are at making g what could have been a boring photo into a WOW photo ❤

i buggered up recently by not restricting my ISO to 100 so it popped up to 2000 and i didnt notice which gave me a really high shutter speed too which made the light source i was using flicker (even tho it usually doesnt flicker) and ended up with tiny thin lines all over the shots . just a case of lack of practice, i should probably have a memory recall just to set myself to 100 ISO so i dont mess up the initial step of taking it off 100-6000. im guessing i did something like reduce ISO to 2000 then instead of keep reducing it i thought oh hey why not just keep my shutter really high but then i got flicker from my LED light that i wasnt expecting coz id never tested it in that way before. im glad u got ur shot lol. i love doing this style (im using a heavy battery powered amran p60 instead of a flash tho). i was thinking i need a 2nd light source as a back/hair light but u know what i can try using my off camera flash for that instead of buying a 2nd giant heavy always-on light

I wonder if you would get the same result with your A9II, a shutter speed below 1/250s and a 10-stop ND filter having all other ingredients/factors remain the same especially your gorgeous subject?
@saeed_kiaАй бұрын
One question: how do you focus on the subjects without turning the flash on? Because with a high shutter speed the image is underexposed and with f3.5 or f 4 we have blur in the image. How can you focus while the cam screen shows only darkness and barely subjects?

Zooming the Speedlite is meant to increase the reach, not to narrow the beam 😉

Incorrect - it is there to adjust the spread of the light to suit the focal length you are using ;-)
