How fast do you troll when summer trolling? How deep of water are you focusing on?

Why do you not run hooks in your teasers? Don't the fish ever bite them?

Seems incredibly complicated way to fish. I grew up in Montauk, never saw anyone troll more than 2 wire line rods, umbrella or parachute rigs. Offshore trolling for tuna most charter boats maxed out with 4 rods off the stern, 1 center line, and 2 lines on outriggers: total 7 lines offshore. I cannot understand why trolling inshore, anyone would need planer boards and more than 2 rods in the water when trolling for striped bass ... please explain. Thanks.

I heard him say Senator reels. They're old but well made. I have some Senator 113h 4/0 that are a good size for striper trolling so I would think you'd want much larger reels for planer boards.

they are set out 7 bars back each and then one might be 7 bars out the next will be 5 bars back the next 3 bars back... so the first line will really be out 140' the next line will be 120' then the closest line will be 100' out
@Craigzy1

I understand the different lengths of line to set the baits behind the boat but how do the clips not all just travel out to the end of the planer board line and bunch up?
@CaptMikeMashino
@CaptMikeMashino 7 жыл бұрын
because once you set them out your 7 bars then let them out to the right or left they wont move due to the reel not allowing them
@CaptMikeMashino
@CaptMikeMashino 7 жыл бұрын
because once you clip the line to the clip it can only go as far as you let it slide down the line and you let each line down a different length

OK, so I have no experience Kayaking, or kayak fishing. So, i need to know is, where does the camel pack go, is there a way to attach it to the seat, or do they make life jackets with water bladders? It just seems if your going to be the water away from the shade, with the reflectiveness of water that you would need to have a higher intake of H2O.

In NY there is alot of boaters. Not sure if a kayak will hold up to the waves the boats create when they are speeding by you. . They see a small kayak they dont care they wont slow down. Likely flip over.

Eliminates "rod twist" experienced under heavy load by having the line pull off the guide instead of the back of the rod. A lot of vertical jigging guys use it now and it is starting to catch on in the off-shore trolling rods because of the heavy reels associated with it.
