I just hope Gov Stein will take care of state employees. Gov Cooper did the best he could, I know he wanted to give us more but was unable to.

This is a great discussion and I am glad to hear the prospective of a younger adult. This is literally an issue across the nation. Graduating from College not having the option of employment in the major that you graduated in or even a job requiring a degree. Needing a job and having to take a job that you do not intend to take look at the options. When we are looking to go to college, graduate and step into our careers with a good Job with benefits, investment options, etc. When you have a whole group of people who work in those type of jobs (fast food, customer service/retail) those employers BIG OR SMALL do not pay their employees wages that will allow workers to live. They are given minimal hours so that they do not have to pay ANY benefits. Most of those benefits are left to management. Fast forward to 2024 now we have corporate companies who are taking away benefits although they may pay more. We are looking at hard times on all levels of employment for some.

I appreciate what SEANC try’s to do but after 29 years of being in state government service. I keep hoping for an actual single benefit increase. Retirement formula has not increased since 2001, paid leave schedules have not increased since 1982. Plus health care and salaries increased are really the key points. I for one would like to see 7 weeks of paid leave per year.

Maybe the State could look into programs like Twin Health which offer employers and health plans specific help to reverse and prevent diabetes. I am sure more programs will come out to help employers by pass the madness of these medications

My thanks to Caremark for their decision to no longer cover for any diagnosis other than type 2 diabetes. I'll just be waiting for my pre-diabetes to turn into full blown diabetes and then have it treated. Despite multiple appeals by my provider asserting medical necessity the medication I've been on for more than a year is no longer covered.
