So in your case your calculator is probably just tail left, meaning that if you need to find the P(x > a) = 0.10 for example where the area under the curve shaded to the right is 10% or 0.10, you would have to enter in your calculator the exact opposite: 1 - 0.10 = 0.9 since your calculator only works tail left.

They work their way through math problems, using logic -- not by memorizing processes. Without being taught said logic, they are "dead in the water," so to speak. If you check out the Po-Shen Loh method, you will see the connections to the Quadratic formula. Once you get used to it, you're able to do a lot of it in your head.
