Webb was the voice of MPT for nearly 40+ years, at least from 1971 (when Wall $treet Week started) up to at least 2009 and the analog signoff.

@@armorybrunotjr.3204 - But there was another announcer for "Wall $treet Week" in the early years before 1973 when Mr. Webb was first heard on that program; would anyone know who that other voice was?

I remember these from the early 90s. And the sign-offs that came after the Jack Horkheimer star-gazing program on Sunday nights. Great find & upload.

This station id actually dated back to summer 2000 because it has the 2000 pbs stay curious branding which started in the summer of 2000 and lasted until late September 2002 when pbs updated their logo. I remember more station ids with clips of Maryland but with the 1998 pbs acrobats used from spring 1999-summer 2000, and some from fall 1998-spring 1999 where it’s the same thing but with the 1984 mpt logo instead of the cursive m logo, and all those ids used an arrangement of the 1998 pbs theme, unlike the one in this very video which used the 2000 stay curious theme. I remember another id used from around 1999-2002 where it has many clips of Maryland, and Alec Webb says your watching member supported mpt serving Maryland Washington DC, and northern Virginia, and a synth guitar tune plays. Yes Maryland public Television is one of my pbs stations along with WETA and WHUT.

I didn’t get to see the M logo for MPT until now since there are videos of this logo.

I sure do miss these old commercials. Has anyone but me noticed lately that a great majority of TV commercials these days feature a dog - regardless of whether or not the product being advertised has anything to do with dogs? From cleaning products to insurance and everything in between. It's become a cliche. What's even worse are commercials for prescription drugs showing people walking around in garish work-out clothing having conversations, and at least one of them is walking a dog. Particularly offensive are the ones that show an overweight bald guy strolling with other people having conversations about their health problems - and of course at some point high fiving everyone for no discernble reason?

Yeah, it's definitely a conscious decision to appeal the most people possible. Most people love dogs and those who are easily persuaded by advertising will have positive neuronal feedback to the sight of them and will be more willing to purchase or use whatever is being sold to them, whether they realize it or not. It's something planted in the back of their mind that creates a more positive image of the company or brand. Dog = Happy. The same thing goes for the influence of music and color usage in marketing. With this Bargain Bill's commercial, they definitely decided to put the dog and the kid here in order to capitalize on how adorable it is. It works! And yeah, those prescription drug commercials are... strange. Very predatory from an advertising standpoint.
It was likely just a general promo for the show itself and not for any specific episode. Usually if there was a promo for a specific episode it would've included brief on camera snippets of the guests with a voice over saying who the guests that week happened to be. Also, episodes that aired from September 1986 through the spring of 1990 included a guest co-host. I don't see a guest co-host seated next to Roy Clark in this promo...so, as said, it's more or less a promo for the show itself and not any particular episode. 🙂🙂
