What happened to "I celebrate myself and sing myself"? That's how the poem starts in all my Leaves of Grass
@crazydogaudio3 жыл бұрын
The opening of 1855, original version of the poem, the one Whitman first published: 'I celebrate myself and what I assume you shall assume...' You can find it at whitmanarchive.org/criticism/current/pdf/anc.01063.pdf He tweaked and reworked the poem pretty much his whole life. I prefer the original as it's Whitman as a relatively young age, setting out on his career as a poet.

Very nice! Very cute! Thank You very much and, of course, Happy Dorothy's Birthday!!! (August 22nd). ...Although, probably, I would sing it in the different manner. Thank You very much again!🌹🐸🌷🍇💐🥭🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

Fantabulous. Wonderific. Truly stupendous. I can die now. It's okay... But not really. I still don't want to die. Because like every other human being I fear death, but like to pretend I don't care in order to look cool. So sometimes I make bad decisions. I've come close to death in direct result of some decisions. Results that have made me realize the farce that is my outward portrayal of my personal motives and general demeanor.

@@andrewquintanawrites thank you. It was a labour of love. There is a version up of this with accompanying soundscape. here kzbin.info/www/bejne/pILGq6imgrl1idE [which may or not be your cup of tea]. best wishes.

@@crazydogaudio Yes I'd seen that one but couldn't comment on it (comments are turned off) so I commented on this instead. I actually think the soundscape is a fantastic addition and elevates it.
