I think with frontiers, Ian Flynn did not write frontiers from scratch. Sonic Team gave him a premise, and which characters to use. Ian was tasked with writing the dialogue and connecting lore.

Okay slight change of news, it's been confirmed that the Leaks aren't from a Switch ROM of the game. The leaks are currently coming from a person with a Steam Review Copy of the Game. So continue to be careful out there.

That gun mech Shadow fights is a boss ripped right out of Shadow 05 called “Heavy Dog” (with a duplicate called Blue Falcon). That diagonal slash thing it does is it’s “particle beam cannon”, an actual attack used in the bossfight! The attention to detail and subtle references this thing makes to that game are just incredible!

When was it confirmed?

This is easily the best episode so far. Animation and looks as always are incredible, the action is just mind blowing. Sweet to see more Rouge and Omega and even Abe gun commander as an adult, plus another returning boss from shadow game. I was not expecting that emotional send off with shadow thinking back to the past and imagining being with Maria. Really got me emotional, can’t describe how grateful and happy I am as a shadow fan, this short prologue series has been incredible. Can’t wait to continue the rest of the story. 🖤❤️

In order to rewrite a story, there has to BE a story in the first place. What we got was a 3 panel comic strip with gameplay in between. "uh oh, robotnik's messing with time!" "hey, past me!" "robotnik is defeated"

I mean that mostly rumors made by gamers because the game webpage having line "Reworked cinematics" but that can mean mostly to adding chao and removing compressed cutscenes for in game cutscenes also i think everybody in fandom know that Sonic generations don't really have much of story to begin with so if they really wanted to add up to the story they would say it, Ian Flynn have also stated that he is gonna work on shadow part of generations, not the whole generations so there more evidence to deny the allegations even if more references to past games would be great

I'm not sure how I feel about the story being rewritten All I want it to be is to have a more cohesive story within Sonic Generation (not Shadow Generations as that seems unessesary to link the games by rewriting the story) and the story have to have more stakes and character interactions

Let's just hope they don't ruin Generations.

Loved this episode, once again animation and looks are beautiful, voice acting is great and the characters interactions are so good. Super happy we got more time with Maria. Seeing the Gun commander as a kid again and a returning boss from Shadow the hedgehog game, super cool. Do wish the episode was a bit longer and didn’t have an abrupt end, nevertheless still fantastic. 🖤❤️

You didn't forget the GUN Commander's name, his name was never given in Shadow 05. Though here Maria called him "Abe", so that's the first time we ever heard his name. That said, it wasn't new information that Shadow was made with Black Arms DNA, that was one of the reveals in Shadow 05. And yeah, Sonic's birthday that Rouge was talking about is definitely a reference to the start of Sonic Generations, pretty much confirming that Sonic and Shadow Generations both take place at the same time.
