I have a JOS HEINRICHS PURE COPPER COCKTAIL SHAKER SET CIRCA 1910, which includes 6 glasses and the tray, that was a wedding gift to my grandparents and the patina is very splotchy because my friend cleaned it about 10 years ago and didn't do a good job. I have no children to pass it down, so I want to sell it. Should I clean it or not?
@AntiqueQuest

Up to you if its splotchy and doesnt look good, I would probably give it a polish which will look better then splotchy. Shaker sets are not really something I would worry about patina, they will look better polished in my opinion

I found an old English knife out in the high desert of Nevada years ago. The handles were long gone, so I thought I'd make some new ones. The first thought was jade, but since I've never done any knife work before I changed my mind and I'm going to try cow bone. Maybe you can tell me something about what I have that I don't already know. 2 links: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fF7FZZ-Im9Wdnrs kzbin.info/www/bejne/naaaZaGhhseDsLs

Always liked Marsh bros knives. Pretty cool that its a found knife. Its pretty worn so no worries about seriously devalueing it by adding handles. Probably had bone or horn handles originally. But I think the jade would look pretty cool. Good luck

@@AntiqueQuest Thank you Sir! I've decided on cow bone and just received the scales in the mail. The original "guard" is very loose, but I saw a video where the guy peened one with a rounded punch to make the slot tighter, so I think I'll try that. I'll probably end up buying a small drill press so I can get the holes through the scales straight. Also got some nickel silver pin material; gonna try my luck at peening only because I don't think it would have been glued back in the 1800s. I'm still a little nervous about attempting this, so I'll have to watch more videos and get my 'youtube' degree before I start. haha. As far as the jade goes, if this turns out alright, sometime in the future I might try it. The plan then was to fit a new guard made from a Morgan silver dollar along with the jade. Silver pins for the scales and maybe my grandson's initials inlaid in gold. We'll see how this goes first. :) Cheers!

Thanks for the video. What would you figure is the going rate (as just a general estimate without pictures) of a Remington M1894 with low serial numbers made in 1895? I see prices anywhere from $500 to 5,000 for one of these. When I compare online sold auctions to the condition and grade of my example most are around $1,500-2K which honestly seems high to me? That or I got a screaming deal... For reference its a 12 gauge Damascus 30 inch barrels. Its uncut unmodified original. The metal all has a nice even brown patina with some bluing left. Good bores, locks up solid and firing pins snap hard. Safety is a little sticky but I think its old oil build up which I havent taken apart to clean yet. Wood is oil soaked on the edges but decent grain like on the LCSmith in the video. Original buttplate present, no cracks but checkering mostly worn smooth and one screw on the wrist iron is goobered and a little loose but present. Id say condition similar to the LC in your video. Watcha think?

1500-2000 seems high to me too unless its insurance value. Although seeing some recent prices in the US, maybe 800-1200 but again hard to say without seeing it in person.

Wondering if you can help with information or point me in the right direction. I was given a Tobin Arms double barrel, with a 3 digit serial number. The patent says May 23 - 93. Norwich, Connecticut. It was color case hardened, and the wood looks to exceptional underneath the old finish. I have no doubt this was a beautiful gun when new. It's pretty rough now but would it be worth redoing or leave it as is? I did a video about it if you want to see what I'm asking about. Thanks for any help.

I know there is a collectors market for Tobins here in Canada but you have an early one there while they were still in the states. Personally I might redo the finish on the wood but wouldnt want to strip its old patina so I would only go carefully.

"Mirror" barrels in old shotguns are always a warning sign that the barrels might have been "refreshed"...perhaps several times. Before even thinking about shooting any of these guns, the barrel thicknesses must be measured. In most of Europe, all refreshed barrels must be submitted for reproofing. Also the elastic limit of barrel material can be exceeded producing a bulge of only a fraction of a mm and therefore invisible. Such guns would not be even accepted for proof in Britain. Many people think that low brass shells = low pressure shells. That is not true. Now most are loaded to about 10K lb./in2. The reason for this is that all shells must now be capable of being cycled in semi-autos. This is about 2x the pressure that light weight game guns were intended for. There was and is no proof law in the USA.

Hello, dear master, I want to buy a second-hand, used classic double shotgun. There are many rifle brands. I can't decide which brand of rifle to buy. Can you tell me the brand of the double trigger, solid, good shot, light quality classic shotgun? Which brand of double rifle do you recommend to buy? As an experienced gunsmith, what is your suggestion for me? Thank you.

Hello my dear master, I want to buy a second-hand British-made classic smoothbore shotgun, a double rifle with side-by-side barrels. There are many rifle brands, I can't decide which brand to buy. As an experienced rifle repair master, what brand of rifle would you recommend me to buy? What is your advice? I am a hunter who hunts fly partridges, quails, woodcocks and rabbits. Master, what is your suggestion and recommendation for me? I would appreciate it if you could recommend a light, solid hollow band 12 diameter quality rifle brand. Thank you in advance. Thank you, I offer my respects.

This helps guide us in our patch repair. We cant afford a full shell off so we're only doing the section that needs it. We want to use it before were too old, and not work on it forever doing a full resto. Some day some future generation can do that, and when they do they're gona laugh at the repairs we made lol

Hey there I am reaching out about your video of the AC unit on airstream. Wondering if I can get in touch with you about my same unit before paying out thousands to replace both motors.
@6skw

Hi I’m renting in a air stream with this same unit it looks like and both motors seem to be seized up but they have been running well for the past month everyday here in Texas from about 12am when I get home from work until 11am when I leave the trailer again I turn it off. And just the other day it sounds like it’s on but the fans are not moving. Went up top and the fan moved freely like in your video, but the fan that you can see from inside the trailer wants to move and can get it moving for a second by forcing it with a flat head screw driver but then it stop and sounds stuck. My question is can I call you sir and FaceTime you and Venmo or cash app you some money for your advice before I pay this guy who came out and didn’t do much other then look at the motors and say you need to buy new ones replace them. Thank you sir hoping to hear back from you.

Sorry but I dont think I could help as I am not a air conditioning tech, just posted for this simple fix I found that seems to happen often. Other then freeing up any fans and running very little oil to keep them going. It is always possible that a motor burns out especially down in Texas. But all I can suggest is if you find the one thats stuck and take it apart to see if something obvious is causing it to stick then you may need a new motor. One last long shot is to make sure you are drawing enough power to fully run the AC, otherwise it may just hum and not kick on. Best of luck it must be hot down there now.

Great rundown of things to check. I inherited a 1926 LC Smith Ideal Grade 12 gauge which, as beautiful as she is, needs to be sold to the right person as I am not a hunter and this gun is too nice to just live out its days as a “Safe Queen.” Not being an expert on SxS shotguns this video was very helpful to me in evaluating the condition of this fine old firearm. Thank you, sir!

A number of controversies surround the salvaging of historic wreck cargo undertaken by Michael Hatcher. The salvaging of both the Tek Sing and the Geldermalsen have been heavily criticized by archaeologists for stripping archaeological sites of valuable artefacts without recording any context and destroying the less economically valuable parts of the assemblage, such as the ships themselves.[2] Seven containers of the Tek Sing cargo were seized by Australian authorities pursuant to their Protection of Movable Cultural Heritage Act 1986 as the Indonesian government had confirmed that they had been illegally exported from its territory.[3] This confirmation came too late for much of the cargo however, and it was able to continue its journey and be sold at auction in the EU. On 12 September 2001, the 71 939 seized ceramics were returned by Australia to Indonesia. -Wikipedia, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Hatcher#cite_note-1 Yeah no fuck Micheal Hatcher, white dog

possibly just a pattern #. First would be to search for one that looks the same and go from there if that company marked with pattern numbers. Go to the library and see if they can get you a copy of Levines guide to knives. Thats step #1

I have a old VERY green corroded blade and sheathe. Not sure of the material because the blade handle is so thick and green with corrosion. The blade itself is steel but the handle and sheathe I have no idea. Would you clean this?

Not sure about that one. Would depend how old a blade it is. Personally I love the green so I would probably lightly clean it but not polish it. But if its not worth a lot of money and you want to clean it, then its up to you.
