That is def a lot of miles. It would depend on the price they want. I’d listen very closely for any hemi tick issues. If it’s a good deal I’d say do it. I currently have 106k miles on mine and going strong but it was a bad beginning and luckily I had warranty to step in.

Thanks. Bro the lifter failure is very very common. It’s horrible. So many people have that problem but mine progressed rapidly which was good otherwise warranty would have expired if it didn’t die so quickly as I only had 3 days left in my 5 year warranty but for me to have so many issues is definitely strange.

@@cantcme1243 I bought the car while it had I think 10,000 miles on it. So I’ve had it from 10k and currently has over 104k. The engine failed at 40k from the lifters, two weeks later failed again due to faulty head gaskets dodge installed, PDC failed 60k, driveshaft failed 73k all under warranty thank god. Since the last repair at 73k it’s been running amazing, we compared it to a new last call scatpack widebody and mine felt way better and faster. I have a feeling now that mine has been “refurbished” it will last a long time haha 🤞

I finally got the owner to answer an email I sent acting like a different customer and when I told him my info he immediately stopped responding lol. I should have gotten a lawyer but I never did. If I can get like $25k for mine, I’ll just come up with another $15k cash and get a slightly used one IF I can find one cheap enough and then avoid a loan altogether but doubt I can get $25k for mine 🤔

All you have to do to prevent yellowing is ceramic coat it. It will stop oxidation. I prefer yellow but I get it!

@cshades8026 I actually love the black 80s one I was the first person to order that one and also the first person to order the new white one and I love them both. I’m actually selling my black one just because I bought an ESPMX 250 and spent a shit ton of money and don’t need another black Explorer. Mine is fully upgraded with all black hardware and locking tuners and I haven’t listed for sale right now I don’t want to sell it, but I need to soften the blow of what I spent on the ESP. The e2 is sick And is honestly a higher-quality guitar than the Gibson, but it has the sharp angles, and that kills it for me, but you will not be able to beat the fretwork on that compared to the Gibson that is a huge difference, but it doesn’t mean that the Gipson is bad it just means the e2 is insanely nice compared

It’s not an 84 reissue It’s its own model called the 80s Explorer I own multiple vintage 84 and 85 explorers, but this has never been stated to be an 84 re-issue because that’s not what it is it’s just an 80s tribute which is why it also has 80s tribute pick ups in it and not dirty fingers.

@@GluedBarstool okay, but from what I know this body and headstock are like the (76-like) 1989 model, and so for nine out of ten years in the 80s the body shape was either the 58-like 1980-1982 or the Hetfield-like 1983-1988. That's why I don't think it's an apt name that they have given this guitar. And as I like the more rounded corners I think it's a shame that they decided otherwise, probably only to cut cost.

@washingtonirving2137 they did this to prevent assholes from trying to pass them off as vintage 84 explorers by making them different and it also retains the value of the vintage versions. As someone who owns the vintage versions and the new ones I applaud them for making it different. In absolutely zero shape or form will you notice these differences while you play. It’s honestly really funny when everyone has been complaining about these tiny differences they you can’t even notice while playing. Again. I own the vintage ones. You can’t tell the difference in knobs being a hair off from the placement of the OG If you don’t like them don’t buy them. Well, you can’t even buy them anyways. I’m about the only person that has the white one right now aside from maybe 3 total people. If you really need a knob and the minuscule difference in the body shape then go spend $5-8,000 for an OG or according to reverb active listings they have them at up to $22,000 right now 😂 They’ll become available for sale eventually. Get one. I’m sure you’ll love it. I’m just glad they are making white explorers with no pickguards 🤘😎

This and the black are not 84 reissues. They are new model called the 80s explorer. It’s not a reissue. It’s kind of its own thing. They do this so people cannot attempt to modify a new model to a vintage 84 model to try to age, modify and scam others. As an owner of the real 84 model, I appreciate this. Also keeps the value of the vintage 84 up.

From what I understand they discontinued the 70s Explorer recently. I don’t know if that’s confirmed or not.

Me and my buddy were the only ones they were able to buy them directly from Gibson. They aren’t being sold currently maybe sometime next year they will be available. Just keep checking with Gibson.

Correct it’s not on their website because it’s not being sold right now but it’s the same exact one as the black 2020 version. I have an original 1985 for sale for $5000. If you are interested otherwise the new white one is not gonna be available until likely the summertime because they are having issues with production.

@@GluedBarstool I keep seeing this being repeated but I just ordered one two days ago and it's out for delivery right now. They just sell out immediately whenever they go in stock. By the time my transaction was done, it was out of stock again.

People have been saying it’s due to the color for eight months that’s not the reason they have been using classic white on the 70s models for a long time with no problem who knows what the reason is but they are definitely discontinued at least in the short term seems they only sold about three of them

I guess we’ll see, as I said they’d be mad not to continue with it since its the one everyone wants… if they’ve made a few why would they not make more?

I received mine days ago and he got his today. I’ve seen one guy show me a receipt from sweet water, they are allowing some ppl to preorder and said that Gibson will have another batch in May - supposedly.

I really hope they're going to do a bigger release because I've had nothing but quality issues with gibsons and so have my friends. Hell one of my friends bought a 76 reissue new in 2006 and it had yellow and purple paint specks in it. Then less then 6 months later the paint started cracking and flaking off. He contacted gibson and they said it wasn't their problem. Apparently a lot of people had the same issue but gibson told them all to get bent... in a nice way of course. All the gibsons I've owned had the same issues and so have all the gibsons my friends have bought. None of us have bought any gibsons in 15 years. I was willing to get a white 80s explorer to see if the issues they've had were addressed and resolved but until then I'll never get any more gibsons. Either way yours looks great and I hope you enjoy it. If I see them at the namm show this year I'll ask them why they don't want my money haha.

not discontinued, production temporally halted. Gibson is having massive problems with contaminates in the finished product using white paint. per my Gibson rep.

Yes, somebody alerted me on my KZbin comments that they were available that night, and I immediately went over and grabbed one and a buddy of mine bought two for himself and the next thing we knew they were completely sold out. from what I understand they will be sold out until possibly May from what I just heard moments ago
