I was looking at your fuel linencoming from the petcock, it looks like you are running it down to the base then upnto the carb, are you not running it through the wire for the stock routing for the butterfly carb?

That noise you are hearing is the steel clutch plates rattling in the clutch basket because it's an open air clutch. It's not encased in oil. This is perfectly normal. Nothing to worry about. Or, if you're concerned about the noise, you can get anti-rattle clutch plates. However, they tend not to release the clutch when you're at stopped and it's hard to get in neutral. Something to think about.

That is not a distributor. Both cylinders fire at the same time.

Correct. The proper name is a circuit breaker. Thank you
@user-ho4nw5sf3w10 ай бұрын
@@nutsandboltzgarage5889 Thanks for being a nice guy. I'm a bit of a butthole when it comes to using the proper names. It all started while in the Air Force. Best mechanics training in the world. You don't make mistakes. I've had my 75 FLH since new. It has never been in a shop, not even for warrenty work. I've done it all myself, and that is with one complete rebuild front to rear. It's just this particular item came up once before along time ago so I will tell you about it. You might get a chuckle. This guy was trying to time Panhead using the two different marks on the fly wheel. First he set one and then he would set the breaker to the other mark on a different place on the flywheel. When I told him what he was doing wrong, he told me I didn't know what I was talking about. Everybody calls it a distributor. I told him my bike wasn't the one not running. And to prove my point,butthole that I am. I fired up the Graylady and rode away.

More than 30 years ago I was installing the gas tanks on my 1975 FLH. As I tightened the nuts in back it felt like I was squeezing the harness a bit. A few minutes later I hit the starter button and POOF! a $75 NOS wiring harness ignites and burns up.

Good Day Nuttsand boltz garage. I have a 71 flh. I see you have a S&S carb. I have one on mine as well. My throttle cable was a hard wire routed through the handle bars. But it does not connect up for smooth operaton on the S&S. How did you get the carb to operate smoothly? Did you stick with the stock set up or put on the throttle grip and cable assembly that came with the S&S. Nice Bike.
@nutsandboltzgarage5889 Жыл бұрын
on this 69 i keep the stock internal throttle and i use a braided line. there has to be a throttle return spring behind the throttle spool. when you set up this way, with the braided cable, it turns the throttle into a dead mans throttle. meaning it will stay put until you back off the throttle

Looking to add an S&S to my 67 FLH. I was going to swap the throttle out for dual cable system. Looks like you have single only. Does that operate okay?
@nutsandboltzgarage5889 Жыл бұрын
It operates great. You need to add a spring though. It makes it a dead man’s throttle. Since it’s wire braided cable, you would need a spring if you wanted a single internal wire.
