There waa female singer who came up on the stage to do a duet of a Neil Young song. She was introduced as Casey I believe. I couldn't catch what her last name was. She is a very good singer and if you know her last name, please post a message. Does she sing in clubs these days? She is wearing a pink sweater and blue jeans.

Love Chris Smither. He’s an icon in the fingerpicking world. So many great original songs, and cover songs become his own. When was this filmed? ‘80’s?

Props to Fast Folk, who I didn't find until 1996. They still had only about five years to go, since the entry level to making albums has come down to earth

Thanks for sharing this video! Chris Smither is a favorite. The first time I saw him was at a Barnes and noble bookstore in downtown Boston. I was coming up the escalator to the second floor and there he was playing a song called caveman -and I was mesmerized!! been a fan ever since.

I love him or his voice and freezing and his poetry was great! He really was a great folk singer; emphasize 'folk'. It looks like he takes an old folk song and puts his own words to it. I keep meaning to buy his book and then I get distracted. I first found him around 1984 . I learned three or four of his songs on my own guitar and that was all she wrote. I found out later that he was a good friend of one of my heroes Greg Brown, I heard Ain't Life a Brook and I thought he wrote it.. it sounds like this he might be doing this in a drop d, Van Morrison's tupelo Honey. Greg uses drop d a lot as well. Dylan did too.. People do not know that. I love him.

Loved Saturday mornings listening to the public radio station in Northeast CT, when one of his songs came on in the mid 80’s. Great stuff.

♡ - Oh boy. I'm having a great time. I just played in NYC at The Bottom Line and both shows were 'SOLD...' - and played down in DC (Blues Alley), NC, and NJ(Club Bene), and getting ready to go over to Northhampton and play, and then a short hop over to Idaho and then back home (Mendocino) to make my new record.... - I feel like I'm ready to call myself a harp guitarist... ☺ - Aerial Boundaries dedications...Rickover, Bensusan, Galileo (guitar - use it for new advances...) - Will Ackerman, who is the founder of Windham Hill Records, decided that these songs should come out - Open Air Records - He heard me in a club and we signed a record deal (1980)... - We went out and did a test recording + he had me play a guest set at Great American Music Hall (SF)..... - ...to see if I could play in front of people. 🙂 - I was studying computer music at Stanford ~ by playing in bars at night... - The Story of Naomi Uemura: I did write part of the music (harp guitar) while watching the film to get it into the spirit - SantaBear's First Christmas: I had a week to assembly the music to her voice. ~ I liked it ~ so i'll probably do it again. - What's in the works? Probably a couple of ensemble pieces w Michael Manring on bass + maybe Mindy Rosenfeld on flute. 🤗 - ... Rock album, producer...

33:48 This is one of only live recordings of "Little Beaver" I've ever found. It sounds exactly like his playing on the record. Inexplicably, it wasn't a tune that ever became part of his live set list.
