My female is a yr old and she was hand raised and very loving and curious about everything and wants to be everyone's friend. My male is 22,was hand raised very friendly but in his old age he likes to sleep a lot. Enjoys flying over to me on the couch to be pet. I can't handle him anymore like I can with her.

DO NOT KEEP BIRDS INSIDE DO NOT KISS THEM. Psticaccosis Psticaccosis - a respiratory disease otherwise known as Parrot Fever - is caused by the bacterium Chlamydia psittaci. It has an incubation period of 1 week to 1 month. Symptoms include fever, head and muscle aches, dry coughs, and shortness of breath. Diagnosing psittacosis involves blood tests and chest x-rays. Treatment involves a full course of antibiotics. Encephalitis Encephalitis is a viral disease that can be transmitted to humans from birds via mosquitoes. It results in an inflammation of the brain that can cause other symptoms such as:

I'm not going to be the bad guy and I don't want you to refer to me that way. But, looking at the diet you feed your birds its already quite good so good job on that! There are 2 debates to feed a whole diet or pelleted one. Suggesting your just a novice at bird care I would prefer if you chose the pelleted route. The best pellets are harrisons & tops as these provide the best minerals and vitamins for our feathered friends. Sidenote: You should add chop (A blend of vegtables and fruits into your birds diet) & You should get rid of seeds as they contain a lot of fat.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and suggestions! I appreciate your concern for bird nutrition. Just to clarify, I've been caring for birds for several years and am quite attentive to their dietary needs. While the majority of their diet is pellets, I do provide seeds in small, controlled amounts as part of a balanced diet (as you mentioned, that's indeed debatable). They also regularly enjoy a variety of fruits, vegetables, and other healthy foods, which I often hand-feed for extra bonding time. Thanks again for your input!

Just found your channel...love. HUGE question......I have 7 month old green cheek conure......I take him to our hunting cabin, cold weather is here now and we have a butane wall mounted heated.......are they safe for birds?? I've read a bunch...some say that butane is ok and hasn't hurt their birds however other sites so it's a big no no. I need help. I keep Cricket (conure) in a different room than heater and cover cage at night but I need to keep him warm somehow, without killing him....that would kill me...I've done up and fell in love with the lil feathered dude. Please help!!
@TheChirpers11 ай бұрын
Hi and welcome to the channel! About using butane heaters near birds, it's risky because they can release carbon monoxide, which is harmful to both birds and humans. If it's your only option, I'd make sure the area is well-ventilated. A safer alternative would be an oil-filled radiator. For additional source of heat, you could try getting something like K&H bird warmer for their cage (if you search "K&H Pet Products Snuggle-Up Bird Warmer" it should show up). But, of course, it's a good idea to check with an avian vet for the best advice for Cricket. Stay safe and give Cricket a little hello from us! 🐦❤️

Thank you tons for getting back to me. When we are at camp I decided to just keep him in another room with door closed with electric heater. I havento check often to make sure it isn't stuff in room and kinda control temp....he seems to be doing OK with that. He LOVES the camp, lots of kids around which means lots of attention for him....his favorite thing....lol

I've never tried this. We used to feed mealworms to the birds at the wildlife rehab I worked at but I've never thought to feed them to my cockatiels. They might like them. Then again, they might be afraid of them. 😂😂😂
