I've purchased all the combs she has and more. Even electric pet trimmers for over $100 dollars. My cat fights like I'm killing him when I try to brush him. He has some of the worse knots I've ever seen over his back. Just once I would like to hear some advice instead of someone trying to sell me something. Does wetting the knots help to untangle?

That's because you're hurting him. When the mats are too tight they need to be shaved.

Do not wet knots. It will make it worse. You may have to contact a vet who can sedate your cat and shave her. Then, once shaved, comb her daily, even if just for 5-10 minutes. Combing while shaved will help her have a positive association with grooming. She is fighting because she is probably so matted, her skin is being pulled. People are so quick to assume a matted cat is neglected but it can happen quick and some cats tolerate grooming better than others. So, starting from scratch may be your solution.

My question is about the left/right alignment of the bottom blade. The top blade moves left and right, and each time you switch on the clippers then switch it off, the top blade doesn't stop in the same position every time. So when aligning the bottom blade, how do you account for this? What position of the top blade do you go off to set the bottom blade? Thanks
