Man, if the band had dropped 67 and put Freedom on the album instead Ear Candy would have been a PERFECT record.

Paul Gilbert released B-Sides? I didn't know that, awesome... I was only aware of the existence of that Eskimo cancelled EP, which sounded fantastic by the way, I remember it from all these years back 🤘

3:48 it's difficult trying to explain how I felt when I heard this ending to the song for the 1st time... it was like I could see colors and the picture was black and white, so all these colors would slowly fall from the sky and paint the picture in the "video"... over the past recent years I lost most of this sensibility while listening to music, wish I still had it

When they go into that chorus or bridge hook which they repeat at end it is classsic kings X like noone an I have that running through my head. Cant imagine a day with out it or any other kings x classics. Hard to believe that this song was only on japanese edition. But glad I got to hear it. Thanks. Good guys win too :-)

Was going to comment this earlier...but here goes. This song will always remind me of my first daughters birth. Was a cold day 12/8/98 in Richmond VA. I was leaving the hospital to get some decent food for my wife...and I was listening to this album the whole time. Thank you TY

I like the upfront Dug vocals on this early version, but this version cries out for the dripping grunge they would later provide on the BLS version
@KevinR11382 ай бұрын
You realize that Ty is singing the lead on this, right? Unless you mean, Dug’s backing vocals which I’m not sure that’s him rather than Jerry.

What a Masterpiece! Every time about from late 2: min mark to maybe 2: 5 min mark, that Journey is Amazing each member it's like there's no atmosphere something amazing, well the whole piece is a Top 10 Derek Sherinian Collaboration and an ending to this line up to reform become "The Jelly Jam" minus DS! Great under ground era of music! Most haven't a clue about! These artists still holding strong underground pretty much! God Bless everyone ✌️

Such a privilege to be able to hear this early version of Freedom when it didn’t make it onto the Ear Candy album at all... I suspect the main reason for that was that the Atlantic executives at the time, under pressure to get radio hits out of the band after Dogman’s under-performance, decided that Freedom wasn’t “radio friendly” enough for the album. Without the likes of you kindly posting the track online, it might well have been lost to the sands of time like so much great art already has. Thanks so much!
@jbm08662 жыл бұрын
Other than maybe the slightly too long guitar solos for the era, I'm struggling to find a single thing about this song that isnt "radio friendly" lol. Then again I'm not a record company exec.
@davin61752 жыл бұрын
@@jbm0866 Maybe the mention of Geraldo for legal issues? "Terminate my fetus if it don't fit in" for controversy? Both were changed or removed by the time they re-recorded it. On the other hand, they were more or less on Atlantic, under different management, when they were "allowed" to release Legal Kill on Faith Hope Love, the subject of which was pretty clear, but not stated so plainly and directly.

I do like the rawer, more energetic feel of this version, but I prefer the meatier sound and production of the Ogre Tones version. So I guess I like them both. It's one of my favorite KX tunes, and really should have been on Ear Candy considering it's kicks more ass than about 2/3 of the rest of the album (imho)!
