So even if I have a code P0108 it’s possible is not the MAP sensor problem, or it might be air leak .

Not only possible- it’s likely. Always check your Inputs first and then look for variable output from the sensor. That’s always the basic first starting point every time.

Looks like you need to study. It does have a cam sensor. That’s why it uses the distributer output. That’s a cam sensor Smh. Also I set the timing after I fixed the vehicle. Always someone who doesn’t understand what happened trying to make themselves look smarter. What is your explanation for the scope output from the PCM by the way when I used the testlight to create an input? How do you explain that working if there is no cam input? Dying to hear your answer.

Great video I am still trying to find out why my car will not start. Maybe you can point in right direction. Car sat for 6 years. It's a 1998 Volvo S70 GLT. I cleaned out fuel tank, replace fuel pump and fuel filter. I cleaned injectors. Car cranks has spark and fuel out the injectors. I thinking must be a sensor where the timing is not lining up with the spark and injected fuel. Any thoughts

If there really is fuel and spark then you only have timing and compression left. Remember timing can be mechanical timing or ignition timing.
@cassadaga

Yes there really is fuel and spark. I was thinking timing. Camshaft sensor. Worst scenario sticky valves. That's why I was asking you if there's a sensor I'm not thinking about that I can test. Thank you for helping
@SchrodingersBox
@SchrodingersBox 3 күн бұрын
If a valve is sticking that would cause single cylinder poor compression. Not a no start. The idea all valves are sticking…. Maybe. Seems really unlikely. Compression is where I would go either way but I would more suspect any other reason- most likely bad timing. Also you say there is fuel from the injectors- I am assuming of course you measured fuel pressure. If you didn’t I would actually start there. Fuel from the injectors means nothing if it isn’t at least 35PSI.

@SchrodingersBox I have a code p0232 for high voltage in secondary circuit to fuel pump. After replacing the relay and some fuses still no start I decided to try the fuel pump itself. I'm not sure what to do now that it's not starting still. Car wasn't even misfiring or throwing codes before this, it was completely random
@SchrodingersBox
@SchrodingersBox 4 күн бұрын
yes you need to chase down the open circuit. it’s not the fuel pump. what is your fuel pressure when you put 12V to the pump directly? what is your voltage at the fuel pump? what is your voltage drop on the positive and negative?

Hi Matt, great channel content. 2 Things come to mind, 1. To diagnose and verify a vacuum leak repair or problem I am a little older and thought of using a vacuum gauge to help on this job. A vacuum guage should detect and verify a repair of a vacuum leak. 2. I don't know about Ford but on older GM products there used to be a replacable chip in the ECM or PCM called a PROM chip and if you replaced that chip for a diagnostic issue or for performance you would then have to program the new one for that vehicle and/or allow for a number of drive cycles for the system to function properly. Also on my 2004 Ford Taurus a simple disconnecting of the battery creates a high idle problem for quite a few drive cycles. Finally if I have had questions on Ford products I have reached out to Ford Tech Makuloco channel on youtube, he only works on Fords very good technician. Thanks for the do it yourself high quality diagnostic videos.

Matt I'm pressure testing my injectors, 97 Dodge ram 360 original injectors. The pulse choice goes from 1 to 50, and then higher up to 200 I think . That seems like a big jump, I don't want to hydrolock my engine. I hate to ask but your thoughts? Are there steps I can take post testing to ensure I don't cause that condition. I just changed my tampon, please speak freely
@SchrodingersBox
@SchrodingersBox 6 күн бұрын
Hi Joe. Rare that one can speak freely these days lol- at very least get cancelled! Not sure I understand your question. Sounds like you are using a device to activate the fuel injectors by applying a pulsewidth- maybe 1ms up to 50ms and you check the drop in pressure using a gauge?

Gotchya. Yeah I can tell you I have done up to 3 pulses without any hydro lock. If you are concerned then simply crank the engine maybe 2 or 3 seconds between tests and it will push the fuel right out the exhaust. But you would probably have to run like 10 pulses to hydro lock. It really only puts out less than a milliliter of fuel per test.
@TheJoeScarafoneChannel
@TheJoeScarafoneChannel 5 күн бұрын
@@SchrodingersBox the cheap pulse tester I bought has 4 modes. Mode 1 is 1 pulse. Mode 2 is 50 pulses, then it goes over a 100 pulses on mode 3 and 4. I watched scanner Danner use one and was using 10 pulses I think. I'm sure the milliseconds which sure matter. I think I'll be okay with advice tho. I'm loving this subject and wish I had a nice scanner, love your work. If I can chase the rough idle down on my 97 without wasting money on parts the vehicle did not need, I may invest in something better than a hand held OBD2 scanner. Thank you so much

I'm curious about how big the wires of the igntion switch in this circuit design. Since the starter is ultimately connected to the ignition switch, wont the ignition switch have to have really big wires to be able to handle a huge current? This design is really counter intuitive and defeat one of the purposes of a relay. And that is have a low current on the ignition switch
@SchrodingersBox

it uses a relay so the wires are small gauge.

I'm back again! I forgot to mention the problem which is when up to temp and driving, the revs drop for a split second intermittently and sometimes when coming to a stop but still moving slowly, they cut out and the power steering goes off but the latter of the 2 seems to be the stop start function kicking in, which I find strange as I've not come to a stop completely and I'm still in gear. Here's a question, I have a Vac truck motor that got its key stuck on "start" for about 15mins until it died. Melted the main fuse and killed the starter motor. I replaced the key barrel, the main fuse and the starter and it ran fine for one day. Than the starter motor died again. I bench tested it and it was still throwing the pinion and spinning (which I could hear prior to bench testing it) but it would stop spinning with the slightest resistance. The auto technician said the starter motor clutch was fried. My question is, could the key being stuck on "start" cause a fault in the circuit? And if so could that faulty circuit be the cause of the brand new starter motor clutch dying?

I can't even begin to explain how horribly Matt botched the electrical work on my car, first off he showed up late looking like he'd been electrocuted himself, he fumbled around under the hood with tools that looked like they came from a cereal box, he duct-taped random wires together and used chewing gum to "insulate" connections, he claimed my battery had "existential dread" and tried to jumpstart the battery with his phone charger, then when he finally tried to start the car it made a series of awful train horn noises (how the hell did my car do that) and smoke started pouring out from under the hood, he said it was "communicating progress" while he danced around chanting some kind of native american war cry nonsense (apparently that "excites" the alternator), when I drove off the radio was stuck to freaking football channel which I hate, the windshield wipers start dancing to the rhythm of "Last Friday Night" by Katy Perry, the same god damn train horn honked every time I hit the brakes, and the interior lights flashed in time with the hazard lights like some sort of disco nightmare, I called him to complain and got a voicemail of him singing about being "the best scientist in the state of Colorado" to the tune of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star," when he finally called back he said the car was "adjusting to its new electrical identity" and to give it space, now I'm out a ton of money and my car is a complete shit-show. I've never seen such incompetence in my life, avoid this guy at all costs unless you want your engine bay to turn into a big filthy sight of a wiring spaghetti bowl.

I also bought the Allturn plastic welder that looks like a soldering iron and comes with tips that allow you to feed weld rod material through the tip melting it as it goes. It's a bit easier than the tips that come in the staple welder. Great video, I may have to check out the shorty sockets.

I have a fun one in playing with right now. Customer states they have a soft brake pedal. Attempted to bleed the brakes and could not bleed the front drivers caliper. Further diagnosis showed that fluid was not being sent out of the abs module to the hardline for that wheel. Fluid is coming in and out through the feed and return lines, and every other line to and from the abs module has flow. I'm working with no electrical diagram for the connector at moment.
