Hi there, just to help the people looking for a similar solution on the old Creative sound cards. I just got one of many pci-e to pci adapters out there from Aliexpress. I have a Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty Champion Edition, was working flawlessly in a X58 system (GA X58a UD7). Since I changed to 1700 was looking for one of those adapters. After tons of reading, I saw that many people have issues with low volume, or no volume at all. Well, I´m leaving here the link of mine that is working flawlessly. Same volume, all configs and stuff, like the console launcher modes, frontal I/O, etc. I´m using Windows 10 LTSC - 21H2. I even tested the adaptor on a pci-e 16x, also 100% good. Leaving the name of the adapter if the link stops working (DIEWU PCi-e to PCI Adapter PCIe to Dual PCI Slot Expansion Card Support Acquisition Card Golden Tax Card) The link: pt.aliexpress.com/item/1005006351224418.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.5.11e0caa486tt3g&gatewayAdapt=glo2bra

You really need a Pentium 60, or better for MP3 playback on Windows 95/98 however there were native DOS MP3/video players out there that can run with a DX2 66 with no problem (though I don't know if you can still download them anymore). Frankly if gaming on anything, but DOS was your main goal a Vortex86 CPU SBC would have been a better choice they got better VGA accelerators on the newer ones. Still this is a rather nice DOS gaming rig.

WinME is an awesome OS for retro with today's mature drivers. Aside its known advantages, it even consistently beats Win98SE and Win2000 in most benchmarks. WinME+1.4Ghz Tualatin+9600XT ou Pro just for that extra oomph to go along with the CPU, solid as a rock, will take care of anything up to late 2003 and will look good doing it. I've never understood the DOS argument against WinME. DOS games are of course perfectly playable if you launch them from within Windows ME, which is more than fine for the games most people want to play, and if you're a DOS purist, why would you even run DOS games on a PC with hardware from this era anyway?... Hope you found your Tualatin+board combo Eric. Just skip the slotket adapters and go for a native Tualatin supporting board, not worth the hassle. Abraço

Please could you share the list of all the components you assemble together, especially the 4-slots ISA to PC104 card? We cannot clearly see in the video how they all got connected.

I think the memory mapping error may have to do with having too much main RAM, I see a lot of old software from this era freak out if the machine has too much RAM or VRAM because it can't read numbers that large and just assumes its a gigantic negative number. As for Windows XP crashing, that's almost definitely an incompatibility with your southbridge, you can fix that with something like nLite or WinSetupFromUSB which has options to force drivers onto the install media. I had to do that for my eMachines build and it worked.
