Hi there, this is regular PVA glue, here I've used the slightly stronger 'wood glue' version which you can get from most DIY stores. It's still washable, but it dries like 'icing'

Hiya, virtually all of my clips are edited to share on social media, and they have limits . . . 1:30 on Instagram, and 2:20 on Twitter. So, I speed up stuff that's repetitive, and edit out parts that you can work out for yourself. What I create isn't a 'perfect' result, I leave room for you to work things out, adapt, alter, add things . . . these are just a guideline to the techniques and methods that I'd use. You can always do some and then hit pause? Have fun.

@darrellwakelam5597Ай бұрын
@@Luvbaking9 I only use water-based paints (very occasionally a little acrylic if it needs it) I use the same they use in schools, the sqeezy bottles of ready mixed paint. On this I use some metallic paint too, again just water-based stuff.

That's cool. I used to make stuff like this. Paper plate for the base then cardboard and various trash (like cans and single use cups, aluminum foil) to make the form on top. Hot glue and tape to put it together. Then I would jab holes in the sides with scissors and put yarn through to hold it on my face. Nowadays I have a reusable clay I make the armature from then I layer paper mache on the top. Then I use elastic for the strap. It's a lot easier to get nuanced shapes and better structure this way, but you have to pay for the clay (I also have a lifesized mannequin head so I get the size right and don't have to buy as much clay), so I'd recommend this kind of way in the video for people who don't have any access to money, or only enough for necessities. Mask making is very fun I think more people should do it. Some other ways people do it is carving from wood, eva foam, leather, making from gourds, some people do it with clay but that's pretty heavy, crochet. I even saw someone do it with yarn, they had a weird way to put it together and make it solid. And I saw someone make one with an animal pelvis. Some people even use metal, for example traditional Japanese masks are carved from wood with metal eyes. All of these coming with their own costs. Making from paper and trash is the best budget option, paper mache is also budget and is sturdier but more time consuming. Anyways I recommend you look up these other options if you have more resources available to you and want to try a different method.
@darrellwakelam55973 ай бұрын
Thanks for the info, it's a fascinating subject. The work I do now is pushed by a desire to make things as accessible as I can for children, so I use the simplest, most available materials I can, and the least amount of processes. To get to that point I've made tens of thousands of masks, models and sculptures over 35 years, some of which are way more complex, time consuming and costly than what I do now. When you come back full circle, and have experienced all that, then the purity and simplicity of what you do is enriched by all of those other successes and failures. 🙂👍
