That is exactly how NBC pre game of SB XIII started. It started with NFL films highlights of the 1978 season. This video brings back a lot of memories.

The only time I ever saw Chuck get out maneuvered as a coach, and it was not at all his fault was in Super Bowl 3. Joe Namath had one of the greatest games a quarterback ever had against what was the NFL's most dominant unit until that time.

Chuck was amongst the greatest ever at recognizing and developing talent. All four Steel Curtain members were from the state of Texas, getting them right from under the Cowboys noses. Mel Blount was from Louisiana as was Bradshaw and that area was not scouted well by Dallas either. Chuck took what they could and should have gotten and beat them with them.

Anyone that says a physical specimen like Otto couldn't compete in today's NFL is a simpleton. I'd like to see Tom Brady try to play back then; with no roughing, no pass interference, and throwing what was essentially an oblong beachball, and win at Otto's level. LOL Otto STILL holds the all-time yards per completion record. That is absolutely RIDICULOUS when you consider the era he played in, and that stupid ball he had to work with. He WAS the first modern pro-style QB. He extended the pocket, elongated routes, read the field, and made absurd back-foot throws. Look at the old film in slow motion. The torque he generated with his waist and shoulder turn was absolutely absurd, and is the model for athletic QB's in today's game, such as Mahomes and Love. The other big arms in the league at the time, were all "big plant and stride", Otto looks like he got in a time machine and traveled back. He and Don Hutson looked, and played like time travellers. In terms of playing style, Brady actually typified a 50's style QB MUCH more than Graham did. Otto Graham, in spite of what many might think, is the GOAT, PERIOD...

Those early Oakland Raiders bright silver number white shirts just added significantly to the amazing Miracle last second Wins! As well as those incredible comebacks that were the signature trait of this AFL/AFC Champion Team. I watched MANY of these, their unbelievable feats of determination on TV as a boy. My neighborhood friends and i absolutely found the Raiders NFL Football mystique the most exciting in those years.

Different times man. You can’t expect Gen Z people today to drive 1950’s cars, do you? Just like how dial television with three channels was unknown to Millennials. Just be thankful that this old stuff is still available to watch here on YT. It’s one of the best places for archived material.

This is a treasure of Raiders' history. These were the glorious days of the Raiders. I fell in love with football through the NFL Films narrated by the voice of football John Facenda, the greatest voice of football of all time. The Raiders of those days would have been ejected in today's NFL's soft football. The commercial about the Chevy Montecarlo was the one I liked the most. Thanks a million for posting this historic video about the Oakland Raiders. I can't call them Las Vegas Raiders. I purchased one of their last hoodies that reads Oakland Raiders in their last season in Oakland. I have kept it in its package as a souvenir for the ages.

The 73 Dolphins were the best coached team in NFL history until the Gibbs + Walsh teams of the 80s, which took the game to yet another level. Now that Belichick doesn't have Brady, he doesn't look anywhere near as good as a coach as Andy Reid, who looks way better than him now that he has Mahommes at QB. Not that I don't think that Belichick isn't a great coach, and even superior to Reid, but it shows you that lots of stuff goes into making a great coach/team. I do not feel that Belichick's teams ever reached the level of precision of Shula's great Dolphin teams of 72-73, and for 2 seasons Shula constructed an invincible team with much less talent than the Raiders of that time had on offense, and the Steelers of that time had on defense, but this film shows you how Shula's coaching was unparalleled for that time and rarely ever reached again. By the time Marino had come along, Shula was older and had lost his edge. Perhaps if the 84 Marino Dolphins had combined with the 82 Killer Bees Dolphin defense, they could have won a title. And as I recall, prior to the game CBS polled 17 reporters and 16 of them picked the Vikings to win based on the by that time ridiculous presumption that the NFL was superior to the AFL (the merger had occurred 4 seasons previous to this), and this was the final nail in the coffin for that old paradigm, as the league had entered into an era of AFC dominance.

What's great about this truly "classic" video Is the intro - performed by Mr. Football, Pat Summerall - and its narration by the voice of the NFL, John Facenda. Both were awarded the Pete Rozelle Radio-Television Award from the Pro Football Hall of Fame (Summerall in 1994; Facenda, posthumously, in 2021).
