Doesn't she magically have 3 trans-kids? Or am I thinking of some other idiot mother desperate for attention?

When they do these do Dutch people understand Afrikaans the spectrum is from "I understood most of it" to "Could understand very little".

It almost sounds like a combo of Chaucer English (which in an of itself has a Germanic feel) and Dutch. So interesting 😊

White people invented a language heavily inspired by their own and named it after a continent which it remotely doesn’t represent!😅

She sounds Swedish here, especially around 0:07 to 0:09. Dutch sounds more German. Frisian sounds vaguely Swedish. I wonder how a Flemish person might understand this. Her American accent is so natural-sounding. She slips between languages as smoothly as many bilingual Canadians from Montreal slip between English and French with a perfect accent either way and no bleeding over of accents into one another. Certainly a lovely, poised, and intelligent woman. When they are speaking English, most European descended South Africans I have heard sound vaguely like New Zealanders if they are more Dutch-leaning or more like Australians if they are British-leaning.

To me it seems like it has a more "Scandinavian" sound to it compared to modern Dutch. Sort of like Dutch spoken in Norwegian.

I am always a bit conflicted with this clip. There is a complicated history of Afrikaans, South Africa, and apartheid. I am glad that the cancel culture has not struck Charlize because of this history. It is a good opportunity to read up on the subject. I think becoming better informed on things as we go along is good.
