Hi Jacob, cool video! Staying tuned for more about your Q. Do you ever use ND/CP filters with it?☺

Almost never use an ND or CPL with the Q because I like to keep shooting with the Q very simple and quick. Whereas with my M7, I use all types of ND, CPL, and color filters with it all the time! - Jacob

Totally agree on the Q. I've used many cameras at this point... and it's the first one that actually surpassed the hype. I got it specifically for zone focus + autofocus in a single carry, but the image quality and color science is what really blew me away in the end. Forever body, for sure.

I’m a prime NIKON shooter. I love my Z6, Z8 is on my wish list. My nifty 50 is always on the body but the holy trinity is near by (85&35). For off camera flash I use 2 Godox AD200 with a XProII trigger. I am waiting for my Stella pros to come in and may be switch them out.

That lens has been damaged BECAUSE it had a filter on it! These 'protective' filters are nothing more than the salesman's bonus! Shame on you scamming the mugs who will believe you!
@davidmccarthy60618 ай бұрын
Right, a filter is a very thin, unsupported piece of glass. The lens has very thick and supported glass elements. I believed it decades ago but haven't used a filter in about 15 years with no issue. I don't hang off the side of cliffs doing Nat. Geo shoots but I'd be interested to learn how many pros have a filter on the front of their $5000 lens. Although I do have a circular polarizer and a ND filter for use occasionally but they don't stay on the lens, it's just easier to accomplish those effects in-camera with a filter than in post processing.
@servicephoto8 ай бұрын
@@davidmccarthy6061 As a seller of Nikon, Sony, Canon Fuji, Hasselblad, + many other brands for more than 30 years (mostly to Pros & serious enthusiasts), we probably sell filters with about 50% of the new & used lenses that we provide to photographers. We also BUY a large amount of used gear, and my guess is that about 1/3 of the lenses we purchase or accept in trade include filters. Some filters are made, simply to make a buck by selling them cheaply on Amazon, etc... Other are high quality hardened glass, with 20+ multicoatings that will protect a lens well - and maintain the quality of the lens while offering the protection.
@bwphotovideosk8 ай бұрын
Protective Filters are a scam. Another YTer did a controlled drop test and the amount of force required to break a UVFilter wouldn't even scratch the lens
@nethbt8 ай бұрын
You can buy, like 5 or 7 used nice primes out of that price tag lol

If it's 'Too expensive' that's because it isn't for you. Hobbyists only need the F4 version. As a wedding film maker this is the perfect lens and it's paid for itself in one weekend.

Are there filters you would recommend? Because "a good quality filter" is very vague for people who haven't spend 15 hours in KZbin Deep Dives.
@servicephoto8 ай бұрын
Great question! For protection filters there are standard filters but the ones we recommend are ones with multicoatings on it. Here is a link to a example of one that we sell: servicephoto.com/shop/promaster-72mm-digital-hgx-prime-protection-6613/16761550-7f49-0134-bcac-00163e9110c0?variation=1359069&query=filters Be sure to read the product details!

@@servicephoto This guy is linking directly to his own site because he is trying to make a buck by scaring you. Don’t fall for it. Use the hood that came with your lens and buy a decent strap.

@@RogerZoul My bro, if you are around people in the streets that bump into you with god knows what, you need a filter, ya can't shoot with a cap on. There just needs to be a bit of a crowd, someone with a mug and someone with a plate on chest height, very common around restaurants and bam, your 4k€ lense is worth around 4 bucks
@theoldironqueen82248 ай бұрын
@@RogerZoul I also wouldn't buy from that shop because I am not American, but I can definitely help them improve in their recommendations for others that might want to look up what to use
@RogerZoul8 ай бұрын
@@theoldironqueen8224 Ok, there are certainly special situations where a filter might be best, like around salt water and sand, etc. But this kind of thing does not lead to everyone needing to use filters to protect lenses. You’re just trying to scare people into buying filters from you. If I’m walking in a crowd of people then a hood will do just fine.
@RogerZoul8 ай бұрын
BS! Last thing I would do is put a filter on my expensive lens. Just use a hood.
@servicephoto8 ай бұрын
Hoods can help but filter would be your best bet so be careful! If you ever dropped your lens we would rather you pay for another filter than a repair, which are not cheap!
@RogerZoul8 ай бұрын
@@servicephoto Stop trying to scare people into buying filters. I have tons of lenses and I do a lot of photography. I’ve dropped my rigs a few times and I’ve never had any impact on the glass when a hood was in place. I’ve ripped the mount off both lens and body. I had to repair a Canon L lens once and the cost was $300.
@servicephoto8 ай бұрын
@@RogerZoul Experiences are different for each photographer. If you've avoided impact damage, after dropping gear, that's awesome - but in our opinion, you should consider yourself lucky. Our store has been sending repairs to Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fuji, & others for over 30 yrs. Most repairs are $300 or higher, and some can be avoided with filter use. Repairs also take time - and can be a huge inconvenience when you need your gear. Every photographer has a right to their opinion. That's cool - we just know what we see on a regular basis in our camera store.
