Probably because it was there in subtext Kirk, Spock, and McCoy while their closeness can be seen as just really good friends who know each other really well. Spock thanks to being a touch telepath does not like touching room being touched it’s why you always see him and his people keep their uncovered hands close to their body and they never where anything that could lead to unwanted touching. Yet Kirk and McCoy at least once an episode are shown touching, pushing, pulling, or otherwise directing or reassuring Spock with touch and he reciprocates more often then not.

Oh, so this is where that song came from... I distinctly remember them using this to introduce Takei at Shatner's roast--which I knew "Sulu" wouldn't have missed it for the whole galaxy.
