Sadly, This movie is filled with fictional characters which never existed in past like Migaila and many others, i would rather recommend LEGEND OF BUDDHA MOVIE SINCE THERE'S NO FAKE STORY OF PRINCE SIDDHARTHA BEING IN LOVE WITH A LEADER OF THEIFS. I HOPE OTHERS HERE ALREADY KNOW IT THAT HE NEVER LOVED ANYONE ROMANTICALLY OTHER THAN HIS WIFE YASHODHARA. The previous movie great departure of buddha literally made him look as an aggressive person since he was shown ready to attack his father when he ordered to harm migaila. Real prince Siddhartha would never do such things since he was polite and calm from the start, i wonder what this movie's writer is trying to show to foreigners?? Those fictional characters make no value to the real story of Lord Buddha too. I hope Japanese animators won't mix their own fantasy with real story since it misleads some people.

This film made him more human, which is realistic. Your ideas of making him more than that is a fantasy. Buddha insulted many Brahmin for their fantastic beliefs and delusions. In fact, he even said, "Abandon the heresy of worshiping God (Brahma) and praying to him. Instead, do good things so that good things can come back to you!"

I understand completely, if someone changed the story of Jesus here in canada and made Jesus more flawed and human, it would not be received well. Jesus and buddha were very different, I admire them both.

I believe, its wrong depiction or War @ 2:15, it was a rule Not to attack innocent and villagers, the Battles typically were fought outside the city, only combatants engaged with others combatants. Nearby villages in fields were Not harmed (Ref: Writing by Huent Sang on India). The exception was when a Kind does Not accept a challenge for War and instead hides in his fort, thats when the opponents attack his Fort ..bringing the war into the city. Even then, use of Fire was restricted and villagers/innocent were not harmed.
