Air dry clay is not food safe. From the little I've read on the internet, polyurethane is food safe.

Thank you! I think I may have used these coasters once or twice. Personally, if you want something water resistant, I'd use spar urethane.

The best way of doing that dark back ground is get you some dark wax and it just goes right down in the cracks and it seals it too. Another way is to paint it dark then dry brush your bright paint on for as may times as you want. I. Love these projects this is just perfect thank you so much for great inspiration.

Yay! I'm glad you love them. 😊 Happy to be some inspiration. Although I don't show it in the video, the D&T project (kzbin.info/www/bejne/qnPSqIyweceZpqcsi=cTyF4pD6tvOqzy9c) is the first time I've added cork. I sand and varnish all of my projects and (so far), I haven't experienced any scratching (from any of the projects) on my dresser, desk or shelves (that's where my coasters are currently located). However, if they were a gift or I was using it in my living room (or other high traffic space), I'd definitely add cork, just to be on the safe side.

I just started punch needling and find your video so helpful. It's nice to see what not to do instead of just what to do. I like that you explained solutions! I especially like the idea of adding yarn around the edge of the finished coaster to hide the cloth showing through. It helps that you have a pleasant voice! Thanks!

Yay! I'm glad you do. 😃 Thanks so much for subscribing. 😃 After I punch the needle into the fabric, I hold the yarn on the backside/underneath the project before bringing the needle up to make my next punch. I do this each time to keep the long stitches (on the front of the project) in place.
