This is the first video i have found where you can hear the engine fail and explode. Im not a expert and i could be completely wrong, but i think the rockets turbo fuel pump somehow exploded, that easily explains the loss of thrust as well as the large amount of fuel burning in an uncontrolled manner

Fuck you...there's a comment for the fact finders..i wasn't the one that left an ignorant comment to begin with...if we were all Missy's the world would be much better....

Damn idiots..if u wasn't there u don't know..he was 2-3 miles away..i was 15 miles away and it sounded like a bomb going off..

The speed of sound is more reliable than someones estimate. Especially an estimate with a 50% margin. Doesn't matter who was there. You can count the seconds between explosion with your eyes (speed of light- nearly instant) and how long it takes the sound to hit that point at 1125ft per second. So we know better than he does how far he was. Science wins.

Lord...ok. since u live around here and seem to know it all.

Missy Marshall Not a "know it all". 5th grade physics. Maybe you should go.

You couldn't of even seen the thing from that far...not recorded with an iPhone at least...we have no reason to lie about something like this..not like we are making money from it.

Missy Marshall Uploader already has stated he was in Atlantic, VA. Even if he was at the closest possible point to the launch pad in that town, it is still greater than 3 miles. Wallops launch pad is at 37°50'01.7"N 75°29'17.5"W Copy that into google and you can measure distance yourself using right-click, select "Measure distance". The southern-most point of Atlantic, VA is at Taylor Farm Rd on Bogeus Bay. Therefore he was not 2-3 miles away, since that it's simply not possible. Doesn't matter if he was born and raised there, and knows every tree and twig in the area. The fact is, based on satellite imagery, city boundaries, and the physics of sound, he was not < 3 miles away. Facts are facts. End of story.

Yeah the explosion was pretty loud and I was just s few miles away from chincoteague in a town called Atlantic
@taylorpee47499 жыл бұрын
Were you on Wishart Point. This would put you 3.3 miles from the launch pad. Nice footage.

Thank you for the compliment , I was at wrights restaurant so I am guessing I was within the 2-3 miles I was estimating maybe a touch more but I can promise I was not 69 miles lol

vaughn marshall 5.2 Miles to launch pad. Nice :) -- Watching the explosion and waiting for the sound just shows how slow sound really is compared to the speed of light.

Ok I was in the ball park at least

Were you on Chincoteague? I left there Sunday afternoon. The launch was originally scheduled for Friday so I could've seen it but it got pushed back.

Actually I was 2-3 miles away from The launch pad

Judging by how long it took the sound to reach them, I'd wager they're about 69 miles away from the launch site.
@Brisket93929 жыл бұрын
I'd say roughly 4.2 miles. Counting roughly 20 seconds between explosion and shockwave at 1125ft/s.
@TheAmazinTacoChannel9 жыл бұрын
StackItUp1 Nope. 69 miles. Trust me.
@kostavangeloff1029 жыл бұрын
TheAmazinTacoChannel I don't trust you...because you are wrong. You can measure distance the same way calculated for Lightning. Count the seconds from lightning (in this case explosion) to thunder (in this case BOOM) and divide by 5 which provides relatively good estimate on number of miles. At 20 seconds, it's about 4 miles -- or about 4.2 if calculated more accurately at 1125ft per second.
@s4ujcd9 жыл бұрын
69 miles?! You're an idiot!
@TheAmazinTacoChannel9 жыл бұрын
Kosta Vangeloff Would that be more accurate, or precise? You'd need to know a good number of factors to tell how fast sound travels through air. Pressure, temperature, moisture, etc. all effect the speed of sound through air, among other variables. That 1125ft/s can change a decent amount. That means your 4.2s vs 4s would be more precise, but not necessarily more accurate. That said, it's a good rule of thumb for measuring on the fly. Also, I know I'm wrong. I just wanted to make the number high, but not so high so a few people would think I was being serious. 69 seemed like a good number, for ... reasons. ;)
