I also have installed the 4340 spicer axle shafts in the rear and RCV's in the front of my 2022 Gladiator Rubicon. Build out the potential breakage and then install 40's. Have you had any problems with your axle tubes or ring and pinion gears?

You do know if you run 40s on that they’re not gonna cover them under warranty because it’s too large for the tire for what the Francy axle was designed for so you may well just spend the money and put in the more expensive axle and been done with it

I am Informed and accept that responsibility, the purpose was to see how far the factory equipment will hold up, and with chromoly axles, it will indeed hold up to aggressive wheels, with some common sense. Yes 1 tons are all the rage, but not in the price range for the average hobbyist.

The gladiator has the same problem as the jeep 392 I had a uncontrolled nightmare I was one of the first people to get a tall lift I won’t mention the manufacturers name but they are good reputable company but no one knew at the time and they were lift kits run extremely tall so I was a little over 6 inches of lift on the front it was absolutely impossible to get a pinion angle to work or any driveshaft to work I went through five driveshafts Custom made in one month and prior to installing all the side purchase very expensive 40 inch tires wheels etc. etc. the only thing that would work I had to lower the vehicle to 3 1/2 inches then I had zero issues but I couldn’t run the tires I purchased etc. also during this process the pinion angle cracked the front of my transfer case, And I have been told the 392 is similar, I just recently purchased a 392 and put 4 1/2 inch lift kit on it and I am a little concerned about the pinion angle but the good thing is it’s not full-time four-wheel-drive light to 392 and if you were to disconnect the driveshaft on the 392 you would destroy the transfer case because it has clutches in there that spin and apparently blows out the transfer case if it’s not running full-time four-wheel-drive, I think the answer would be getting custom made axles with proper mounts welded to make up for a proper caster pinion angle I even tried relocation brackets for the control arms nothing worked.

@@Bifrost_jtI wouldn’t bank on that holding up if you actually wheel it. I have a 2021 diesel on 39 KM3s. Last week the trac bar bracket tore off (with a pro welded truss) either because of or simultaneously with the axle flange bending meaning its a boat angle worth its weight in scrap only That destroyed my beautiful adams driveshaft, a very expensive shock and put a small hole in the diesel tank. Was not even locked when this happened. Its too much tire and too much torque to count on it being reliable. Fusion/currie/ east coast gear supply sell a lot of axles to panicked people who often times had to leave their Jeep somewhere they never would willingly. Fusion 60/80 combo en route and the truck is going 3 link front and double triangulated rear with a fuel cell and bypass coilovers all the way around. If you can’t on a whim drop > $40k like I just did or at least several thousand to find something and you are handy with wrenches I would strongly advise against wheeling much.

Great video: it would seem all of your problems could have been avoided by a regear or just going to 35"'s before you upgrade to larger tires. I am surprised you have not broken a pinion gear yet. I have a 2023 Mojave Gladiator with 4:10's the stock gears and will not go larger than 35"s until I make lower gear changes. Reliability for me is crucial and the #1 factor I use when I modify my vehicles. Beautiful looking Jeep love the orange. Thanks for posting.
@gladiatoradventures
@gladiatoradventures Жыл бұрын
Great comments. Yes by not regearing a lot of the torque is being placed on driveshafts. I choose not to regear as there is no power loss with the diesel, more importantly it would void the warrantee. side not the 3:73 is the strongest gear set in this set up. as you reduce gears ie 4:10, 4:56 your gears get weaker as the pinion head get smaller. I try to think through every scenario.

Very Frustrating! I was chatting with some SoCal Gladiator Instagram members and they were advising me to not run my after market Auburn Max E lockers through the JT's computer, center console display and factory switches with the Z-Locker Controller due to "computer and sensor issues" disabling the lockers. This is my first Jeep build, I'm currently listing out the parts and will hopefully start ordering parts in March 2024. I wonder what the issue is? Likely sensor & computer related? Thank you for keep us updated. If I find any specifics I will let you know.
@gladiatoradventures

I’m 99.9% positive it’s the sensor in the Diff. Jeep now has that sensor available, so that’s good. It’s on the books to get looked at by the dealer. I’ll make a follow up video with results.

Yeah that's a weak spot, but fixable, I would just get some RCV axles with fad, and call it a day, I've got a 392 extreme recon that I added the fad module, and put RCV axles, I to have 40" tires and 5 inches of lift, and I don't worry about anything, and I'm an idiot in my jeep, all this crap about new axles is just plain misinformation, and the ring and pinion as being a weak spot is misinformation as well, I've been building and wheeling a long time, I've never replaced anything besides ball joints.
