Bob Jones’ story intrigues me. It seems there is no account of what the man was like, only where he went and who he had children with. His daughters don’t seem to have anything much to say about him. How must his older daughters have felt about him leaving and coming back years later? One would assume that he could not have been a nice man to give his children so much pain to contend with, but its not really clear from this show as to how his daughters feel about him. My first thought was a picture in my head of the institutionalised type cast with the bowl haircut when I had my 4th child who has DS, he is 35 n0w and I wouldn't change a thing, I went on to have 2 more son's refusing tests as I would have loved another baby with DS, my eldest daughter had 13 rounds of IVF and got pregnant, she was told the baby girl had DS we were all delighted, sadly she died at 33 weeks and I was at the birth, she was beautiful, my daughter now has a typical little boy (IVF ) who is 4 but she wants to adopt a child with DS eventually.What a wonderful family, so nice to see positivity, lovely girls .

It should be child abuse when a female is actively using drugs or alcohol and the mother should be placed either in jail or a rehab, no if and or butts! Once the baby is born, give the baby to the other parent, if they aren’t an addict too. Or give the baby to other family or up for adoption. If you’ve never seen a baby go through withdrawals, I suggest you volunteer at a hospitals new born unit, so you can hear the gut wrenching cries of an innocent human who didn’t ask to be born addicted to drugs. I was a heroin addict almost 20 years ago and I wouldn’t wish withdrawal from heroin on anybody, especially a new born baby.

I'm originally from Germany, and I do remember seeing the outcome of Contergan in the 70s and 80s. When I was old enough to do move freely [no parental restrictions] i did see quite a large amount of "Contergan Babies". The majority of these kids/teens/few adults had no arms, but they had a few fingers sticking out from where the arm was supposed to be. My brothers and I [born in 1960, 1962,1963] made our poor mom's pregnancies as miserable as humanly possible. Her doctor suggested she take Contergan, but she had seen the outcome of this drug and she declined the offer. I can't imagine what we would have looked like if my mom would have taken this garbage medication.

Its a tragedy for many girls that they look so normal and speak so well that people have no idea of the internal struggles going on.

I desperately wanted to breastfeed, but I couldn't. I tried everything, but just couldn't produce milk. Now, before I get jumped on in the comments, yes, I did know how to latch properly, I had a lactation consultant to help me, I also went to a support group, I read everything I could get my hands on in the subject of breastfeeding. It just didn't work for me. I don't understand why a woman who can breastfeed wouldn't want to. It was one of the biggest disappointments of my life.
