Global should also do a story on cyclists who are above the rules of the road. Everyday I see cyclists run thru red lights, stop signs etc. And when they’re called out on their actions from my car window, I get flipped the bird along with some foul words.
@bassmanbandmateАй бұрын
… and when was the last time a cyclist injured a motorist? Could you guess how many pedestrians have been killed by cyclists in the last 100 years? (I’ll give you a hint, it’s not much, probably far less than you think) How many severe injuries caused by motor vehicles vs. bicycles? The point is, the rules of the road should be followed by all, yet few are.

Excellent, but you forgot to add the two cyclists who didn't stop at the stop sign (constant issue) or pedestrians who don't stop and look both ways (even worse especially when they show up after the car is more than halfway through an intersection - not in your video, but all over North Van, and there were pedestrians who just crossed).

What are you going to do next film jaywalkers?? Whoever made this is the biggest tool in the world. I consider a majority of his clips as stops. These are called California Stops, and they make 100% sense at 4 way stops. I don’t know this intersection but it looks like a 3 way stop. So tell me Mr Lynn Valley too much time on his hands so he decides to police victimless minor crime, who are you stopping for if no one is there? I guess the real desire is that you get to ferl like the Law. Get a life.
@MOKOSANVFXАй бұрын
Canada hasn't heard of give way signs. Many of these drivers can see that there are zero cars coming, they slow down, look ahead and continue like normal people with places to be. In some stances, give way signs would be a good idea, but the public might take 50 years to adapt.
@DrMuckerАй бұрын
we all have places to be and not stopping for 1 sec is just you are to lazy .. where you live its different here .. we are supposed to stop ..
@ScottySolaceАй бұрын
@@DrMuckerlol it has nothing to do with laziness, in any transmission it's a waste of gas (bad for the environment too) and especially in manual transmissions it's tedious to stop for nothing and for no reason. If I see a completely clear intersection, with my young and functional eyes and brain, there is objectively nothing wrong with continuing. Yes, you *are* being a Karen. No, you're not making the road safer, and what do you want next, the government in our bedrooms too? I know what side you'd be on if you were alive in 1939.
@fred1418Ай бұрын
Do the police even know where Lynn Valley Road and Dempsey is? North Vancouver RCMP spokeperson Const. Mansoor Sahak thinks Ontario has longer and faster highways than B.C.. That's his excuse for an Ontario speeder doing 143 km/h on the Upper Levels. Someone should tell him the maximum speed in Ontario is 110 km/h and in B.C. on the Coquihalla it's 120 km/h. Just another reason for police mayhem in North Vancouver, they would rather EDUCATE.

I am always puzzled why we need 4 way stop.In most countries outside the USA and Canada, there are no 3-way or 4-way stop signs. Instead, the rules of the road typically work as follows: If you encounter a white triangle sign with a red border (a yield sign), you must wait for oncoming traffic to clear before proceeding. If there is no sign, the vehicle entering from the right has the right of way.
@DrMuckerАй бұрын
what you are saying is absolutely true in Canada our yield signs are yellow .. yeah and the rules are different here.. in a traffic circle the vehicle already in the circle has the right of way all other directions must wait until clear to go ..

I've been pointing this out to my daughter for years now in the hopes of teaching her the importance of coming to a full stop. I really think it's a case of monkey see monkey do, but like I tell my daughter, what if a kid comes shooting off on his bike and boom, a life changing event for everyone involved. You're not going to get anywhere faster, the next red light will cancel out those 3 seconds you saved. Is it really worth a few seconds to risk lives?

according to icbc, a solid yellow line is a "suggestion not to pass", so why would a stop sign be anything other than a suggestion to slow down? cheers!
@deultimaАй бұрын
That makes no sense. First a solid yellow is not a suggestion not to pass, the book ICBC gives out says "Single yellow line - passing is allowed with extra caution" There is no mention of any suggestions. As long as it's safe and you signal, you are good. Coming to a full and complete stop at a Stop sign is the law anywhere you drive period. How do you draw a comparison?
@themittonmethod1243Ай бұрын
@@deultima icbc does NOT make the law. if you read the BC Highways Act, which is the relevant document, a solid yellow line indicates "passing not permitted".. icbc is incorrect in their interpretation, and this has been pointed out to them NUMEROUS times over the past 20 years, to no change to their behaviour. i am not drawing a comparison, i am pointing out an error by icbc. cheers!
@deultimaАй бұрын
@@themittonmethod1243 I'm sorry, but you are incorrect. First the BC Highways Act makes no mention of passing on a single yellow line, but the BC Motor Vehicle Act does. "155 (1) Despite anything in this Part, if a highway is marked with (c) one single line, broken or solid, the driver of a vehicle must drive the vehicle to the right of the line, except only when passing an overtaken vehicle." You can't pass if it's a double yellow or a single "white" line, but passing on a single yellow is permitted by law in BC.
