I have to apologize for not responding sooner- but I’m also trying to make ends meet with troubles around every corner, including the car! Of course, whatever you post, when you post, how you post is absolutely ok with me! 👍 I see the notifications, and I like seeing the little dot by your name when I search through my subscriptions telling me you have a video out🤘 I think this holiday season is going to be very stressful and busy- so don’t worry, seriously! Anything and everything you do is gold! 🌟

Do whatever you need to do dude. If you aren't enjoying the creation process you may as well not bother at all. If it takes a month to create a video you are happy with then so be it. We will all be here be it weekly, monthly or yearly. Real life and earning a living is ALWAYS going to come first. After that comes the fun stuff and as above, if it isn't fun for you then why bother. Take care, look after yourself and we'll look forward to your content whenever it is ready. 👍
@barrovianmade17 күн бұрын
Thank you! It’s not so much that it’s not fun make these videos anymore I love doing it but it’s just became stressful trying to pump a video out once a week and I haven’t been able to do a big project in a while plus outside of KZbin I’ve been really busy too so I just wanted to slow things down so I can make better projects and higher quality videos
@fathogwoodworking18 күн бұрын
Upload schedules are hard. It depends also on the projects you are doing. Some take a lot longer to complete than others. Go at your own pace and unless your going to try make this a full time gig, then remember this needs to be fun for you too. Don’t get to the point where you hate making and doing videos. Good luck with the new job.
@barrovianmade17 күн бұрын
Thank you really appreciate it! Yeah I’ve been doing a lot of small projects lately for the sake of uploading schedules and stuff and I want to do bigger and cooler projects so think I’m going to switch to monthly content and try focus my efforts into better projects with higher quality content
@paulreed192719 күн бұрын
Firstly mate, congrats on the new job. Secondly, I think what you do is fab, and I think your channel is fab. I always think quality over quantity, in whatever I do (and if it's DIY, much to the wife's chagrin 😂). You do whatever you feel you have to do, life is sh*t at times and you have to just do the best you can. Personally yes I'll be disappointed there'll not be more posts, but happy to see that 1 quality one a month 😊.
@barrovianmade17 күн бұрын
Thank you mate! I just figured there’s two paths I can take small and easy projects with weekly uploads and rushing everything in 2/3days or upload monthly and focus on better quality content and projects and then I have 8 days to make something and edit and have more entertaining videos and bigger better projects to share so I just wanted to think aloud and post a video to get your guys opinions on everything

Congratulations on the new job! I personally wouldn't mind fewer videos. Quality over quantity, even though the KZbin algorithm doesn't agree with that particularly. I'm pretty sure you've built yourself a supportive community here and no one would mind you putting yourself, your life and your health first. Without those things, your content would suffer too. So you do you, the people subscribed to you will be watching your content regardless, whether it's daily, weekly or monthly uploads. Take it easy man, and I'm sure your content will reflect your well being, i.e. if you feel good, your content will be good. ✌
@barrovianmade17 күн бұрын
Thank you the small community we’re have on this channel is amazing and I love making videos and reading your guys comments because of it wouldn’t want to disappoint anyone by changing upload schedules but I think making better content but fewer videos would be a good trade off I do plan on uploading a lot in December because I have a plan for small projects to give on Christmas but in the new year think I’m going to focus on better projects and content
@garethwatson799920 күн бұрын
The best thing to always do imo is to do what feels right, if it’s more money you need then the new job may answer some problems for you. As for the channel I always think less can more, do a really good video every 2-3 weeks, invest in production tools, new woodworking tools, with all this new money from the new job, and use the extra time between uploads to come up with better ideas, sounds like you know what you need to do so just go and do, fuck what we think in all honestly we’ll press watch either way but…wether we keep watching is always down to to you guys the creators. Monthly sounds great, sort things out and it’ll all fall into place brother! All the best, don’t quit, if you feel the need throw in the odd short project every few weeks if you have some content worth putting out. It must be hard mate, but stick with it! We’re with you whatever you decide pal! 👍🫡

Thank you! Yeah this new job will open a lot more possibilities for the channel with the extra income and I’d love to make better quality content and projects but that takes time so switching to monthly would help me a lot in that regards I just don’t want to disappoint anyone in this small community we’ve built

You do you. I'll watch whenever you post 1 or catch up when I've got more time. You've got bills to pay and yourself to look after 1st. If you get time to do vids good. Hopefully once things settle a bit you will find a balance in your life. I've just been enjoying watching your progression and what you get up to. The longer build vids and the generally shorter how too style vids are a good mix and informative. My mum lives local to me and I'm hoping to turn her garage into a workshop. Watching you just makes me wanna do it even more, but will have to see how things go in my life as to whether I ever manage to pull it off. As for schedule all you can do is give whatever you decide a go and see the results, then decide what you think would be best for you to do going forward.
@barrovianmade17 күн бұрын
Thank you! That’s actually how I started off my workshop is my mothers shed that I’ve slowly taken over with tools and projects started off with very little tools now I have somewhat of a decent collection of cheap get the job done tools sha we all start from somewhere and I hope to move into my own space and bigger workshop some day and I’ve love to make KZbin a full time job but it’s going to be a few years before I’m able to souly focus on KZbin so fornow I think a monthly upload schedule while I work a real job would be good for quality content and stress levels and hopefully it will all pay off in the future

Good luck with the new job bud.

@WonkyStud20 күн бұрын
I prefer longer vids and don't even think about schedule, you have a nice short one, post it, you need 5 , 6weeks, fine too; chances are bigger you get a viral one when you take your time and make high quality. Weekly posting channels that I watch don't have mass views due to the schedule
@barrovianmade17 күн бұрын
Yeah that was on my mind because ever since I started the schedule my videos haven’t even broke 1k views and some of my older videos where I didn’t have much of a schedule have 10k to 30k views and I also just want to make things more entertaining so posting less and focusing on the content I think would grow the channel more, give me more time to do things right and be more entertaining for you guys

Tip for cutting the final slot: push the insert onto the blade so it leaves a mark, use that as a reference and draw a short straight line at 90° with a square. Cut a slot with a jigsaw just enough that the insert goes down onto the blade and can be locked in place. Cut and raise the blade as you would otherwise at this point. You can also extend the slot for the riving knife the same way.

Another fab vid. I had similar thing happen to me a couple weeks back, piece of wood got wedged between the blade and insert, scary stuff. Didn't shatter the insert, but still think I'll do as you have 👍. As for cleaning your table bed, I think I'd just use WD40 rather than sand it clean. My band saw bed was rusty when I got it, WD40 cleaned it up nicely, and laid a thin protecting film 😊

Sharpness is essentially the the amount force required to make a cut. There are two basic factors, the thinness of the apex, and the geometry of the cutting tool. Sharpening a drill bit really only changes the thinness of the apex, the geometry is already in the basic shape of the bit. So, with a high speed drill, you barely going to notice the difference in the force needed to make the cut, especially in wood. But, with an old style auger bit in a brace, then you would notice the difference. Those cut beautifully when they are nice and sharp.
@barrovianmadeАй бұрын
That explains a lot of why there wasn’t a massive difference from sharpening on the bench grinder to sharpening up to 3000 grit thanks for braking that down for me answered some questions I had
@WonkyStudАй бұрын
just the tip makes no sense, sharpen the tip wil get your momentum easier to "plunge" it in there, but the sharpness also includes the whole spiral of the bit
@barrovianmadeАй бұрын
Your thinking of an end mill the spirals on a drill bit are there to clear chips all the cutting comes from the pointy end of a drill bit
@WonkyStudАй бұрын
@@barrovianmade that makes sense indeed, is that the same as an auger bit? I saw a bloke cutting himself whilst fastening it on a hand drill
@PeteBeardsleyАй бұрын
You sharpen drill bits? I usually just throw them away. I suspect there is all sorts of "science" at work here unseen. However a lot will be to do with the speed that the cutting edge is at when it cuts the wood. A drill bit is going extremely fast, where a chisel is very slow. Think electric planer blades (that give a very smooth finish instantly) against a hand plane which requires repeated passes. They are both doing the same thing, but the electric tools do it that much quicker. Interesting video anyway and one I definitely haven't seen done before. 👍
@barrovianmadeАй бұрын
Never thought about it like that and yes I sharpen my drills mostly out of laziness I can just give it a few licks on the bench grinder and it’s good to go instead of cleaning the dust off myself and driving to the shop 😂
@doriglenn1358Ай бұрын
It is a good question. “Join me in this pointless task….” 😆 I had thought if the end was pointy sharp, that would make a profound difference- but your video proved that isn’t so. You answered that question for me! 👍🌟
@barrovianmadeАй бұрын
Yeah it’s not worth the effort to be honest I was expecting amazing results but it’s only very slightly better than a normal sharpened drill bit so it’s not worth the extra effort

Great looking boards. Definitely something to be proud of, your own milled and processed wood. In terms of selling your items, maybe it’s an idea to start off selling at a local makers market? That’s the route i’d probably take if i was in your shoes. Get some inventory made, set yourself a date, find a market and sign up. Not sure if there are markets like that in your area, but i think it’s worth the effort of finding out. I really don’t mind the ‘hatless’ look, coming from another bald guy 🤙

Those are splendid! With the holidays coming up, you got make money with those maybe on eBay? We got ripped off by Etsy and like you said, FB Market is hit or miss. My son likes Big Cartel. But those boards are perfect for small charcuterie or cheese and cracker servers. Not to cut into bcuz high grit makes it so silky smooth, who could cut into that? Just rebrand the name like- Modern Rustic Serving Board, or Natural Holiday Fruit Board, etc. We make little risers for the table setting to help certain dishes stand out. Or you could do How-to videos to raise your following- everyone is looking for ideas or simply how to do things properly. Women like me- it took me forever to find a video that actually helped me attach a hole saw. Like I know what the heck an arbor is! Just suggestions. Sorry for the babble.
