It’s spiritualism. It’s not a curriculum and as a teacher it costs lots of money to learn Steiners ways. Steiner believes that Lucifer is a being of light and believes the lighter your skin is the more enlightened you are. I worked a day as an assistant teacher and it was very strange. We weren’t allowed to answer kid’s questions and interact normally. The teacher did the artwork and didn’t allow the kids to fully enjoy the art class. All the artwork is primarily identical. It’s all very uniformed. I left and felt like I was in a cult. One class for the teacher learning program was going to cost me $19,800.00 It was crazy! They keep saying “freedom”, which is not the case. They do not teach kids to read until 3rd grade. Some of their beliefs are beautiful but a lot of them are not. Look around the schools most schools are white. Hmmmm

STUDY IN SCOTLAND: Our teacher training course is one of the rare Steiner Waldorf programmes worldwide credit-rated by a top university. In our case, it is The University of Edinburgh. TEACHING PRACTISE: Located at Edinburgh Steiner School (ESS), situated within three acres of protected conservation area, it has an opportunity to provide in-house placements in the school for children aged 2 - 18 year olds. You can view our film on KZbin: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rmqbnWh3r9ednJY and view the prospectus here: edsteiner.org/ESTEC INTERNATIONAL: A recent study showed 33 languages are spoken as a first or second language among the families of up to 360 pupils. Our teacher training course currently has pupils from eleven countries and over 90% are non British. PARENT: The Course is studied part-time over 3 years. Our Kindergarten offers families with young children living in Scotland the opportunity to meet up to 30 hours of Steiner Waldorf early childhood education through the ELC grant. After spending 11 years as a Waldorf school pupil , I can only describe it as a weird cult run by uneducated, brainwashed staff incapable of getting work in the real world. Avoid this strange sect at all costs

+jerry boon: So sorry for your negative experience-feelings, it sounds you were not lucky with teachers/school.They are of course different depending on what individuals work on each one. And the pedagogy may not appeal to every soul. calling it a sect and a cult is a bit off though, if you check what that implies in comparison, but I know it can be hard to name correctly, and that things can feel and look strange and wrong etc.what I still can resent was the teacher mostly taking care of tyhe loud, emssy boys although I had it vvery difficult and really needed to get some good attention too. I also wish they would have given me therapy or got me to stay with another family, at least part-time. Paradoxically, I can wish my school had been less good, because then i might not have made it as well and my Aspergers might have been discovered and helped earlier. did you find yourself a more likable place later? What are you doing now?

Someday I will be a Waldorf teacher. Having grown up for 15 years in a Waldorf school I feel it will be my place to help facilitate the growth of yet another generation. It just feels right.

How was it like .? I'm in public school and they don't encourage or appreciate even approve the way I learn I'm an auditory hands on learner sure I read or draw in class why? Because it's boring PowerPoint presentation lesson followed by textbook work lectures in English or popcorn reading in English which I'm first to volunteer for math lectures online assignments students who don't want to learn or don't share my ideals for a excellent education. And teachers who don't want to answer my questions or explain how to solve an equation in steps or how I take notes or how I highlight my stanzas in poems and write notes about what the author is telling me.

I love the simplicity and the free style of this. I wonder though if the spiritual aspect of it can be tailored to a specific religion. Islam, Liberation theology, Christianity ect?

And more especially to a white Aryan sort of a human, (who are the pinnacle of human evolution, as Steiner believed), and indeed everything that the school does and teaches will be through a narrow Anthroposophical lens... And to deny that Anthroposophy is a cult of it's own would also be very deceptive...
@Medietos
@Medietos 6 жыл бұрын
+Mattibald Arch: I agree that some are not so flexible and stable in the vast body of Anthroposophical knowledge and practice and maybe emotionally mature enough that they are able to be free and meet other people in an all-open and wise way. I wouldn't really call them actual anthroposophists then though. Very few really are,according to my experience at least, because it's very demanding. Have you ever checked out the path of schooling and tried it? If A. can be said to be a cult, then you are using the word Cult in another way than the established. Better to find another word, it gets incorrect otherwise. As for the human races, maybe you have to study Anthroposophy deeper, longer, more open to even get what is being said. Most don't get it in a coffee break. Peace.

***** thanks for the insight. I wouldn't be able to follow his beliefs, which would conflict with being able to teach with passion, but I think many of the practices and basic tenets (the emphasis on creativity and artistic expression in all subjects) are legit. I could care less what Steiner believed about the various races, and epochs, and so on, but I do value artistic expression. However, I'm leaning toward just continuing down my current career path. Thanks again.
