Wowser! Great find. Can't wait to see what you get. I just bought my first mystery box of 150 tapes off Marketplace. I didn't get anything good, not even any colored tapes. It was mostly all the usual common mass-produced major studio fare, but I will try again! The only weird cool thing in mine box was some episodes of the British 80's punk sitcom THE YOUNG ONES, but the damn tape inside the slip was Carlito's Way! I couldn't win. I hope you have better luck.

Awesome sleeper score! If Marketplace had existed back in the early/mid oughts when Video Stores were closing like crazy, I feel like it would have been a feeding frenzy. I used to look up Video Stores in the phone book yellow pages and call every one within a 100 mile radius to see if they were selling off tapes yet. I got some good stuff that way. I know this vid is already a year old, so I'm curious, how many of these did you watch, keep, trade, or sell off? One of my all-time favorite films is in this haul, THE NINTH CONFIGURATION (1980), so if you haven't seen that one yet definitely check it out! THE VISITOR (1979) and THE BROOD (1979) are amazing, too. The other ones that I would have been excited about are Nicolas Roeg's INSIGNIFICANCE (1985) and Godard's KING LEAR (1987). I have always wanted to see both of those. They are both lesser common titles from those two director's filmographies that I actively used to hunt for. HAIL MARY (1985) also used to be a less common Godard. I remember that I fnally found it at a tiny video store in Florida when I was on vacation with my family and was super excited. They all wanted to go to the beach and swim in the sunlight, and I wanted to stay in the condo in the dark and watch this rare Godard film. My girlfriend stayed and watched it with me, which is why she was keeper. We still watch movies together every night even after 24 years! That Thorn/EMI MEPHISTO (1981) and that big box Warner Brothers clamshell of MASTER OF THE WORLD (1961) are both cool finds. CASSANDRA (1987), FLASHPOINT (1984), and WHERE THE BUFFALO ROAM (1980) are also all interesting and fun gems. I also spotted ALPHABET CITY (1984), THE DARK WIND (1991), and DEAD END (1937) which I am now curious about. Gotta go add those to my Letterboxd Watchlist. Great channel. Is it weird that watching other people thrift for VHS makes me jealous? I've never seen any of those Alvin and the Chipmunks tapes in one of the two places I go. That one was before my time too so who knows, I probably would've picked it up if I had found it. I'm only familiar with: Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet Frankenstein (1999), Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet the Wolfman (2000) and Alvinnn!!! and the Chipmunks (2015-2023 TV show, produced in France and got imported to USA on Nickelodeon.) What's funny is apparently they reused the theme from the 1980s series which I had never seen. My mom really likes the most recent series and what's really tragic is according to Ross Bagdasarian Jr originally a sixth and seventh season was confirmed in 2019, but then the series abruptly ended production the year prior so those planned seasons got cancelled.

I just picked up The Phantom with Bruce Lee Fists of Fury for $1.00 Canadian at a Garage sale this past Saturday. Also picked up The Flintstones Live Action movie for 0.50 cents Canadian also got a VCR for $2.00 at a yard sale this past Saturday and it works
