We are in the end of the Quaternary Period, an ice age. The question never answered is how much do humans affect natural, expected change. BTW, we had multiple very warm periods, completely natural. The romans built Hadrian's wall in Scotland and grew citrus trees, thanks to their diary accounts. Today, Paris even puts its citrus trees indoors in the Fall because it gets too cold. Northern UK vs central EU. Think it through. SMH.

Co2 is a gas that is plant food, if Co2 is lower then we have now plant growth will suffer. Also Co2 is not a gas that contribute in significance to global warming. Also higher temperature and higher Co2 is only beneficial to life on earth. What we should be afraid of is temperatures and Co2 going down, not up....

If the purpose of the aerator is to increase humidity/vaporize the water, would a sonic diffuser/vaporizer have the same result with much less energy input?

We work with Blue Carbon a natural process w/ Aquaculture for restoration and shell fish farms the shell waste is CACO3 or aprox 12% Carbon by weight who can work with us for Carbon offsets? We have a immutable ledger now that could use a polygon smart contract ERC 20 for Proof of verification with proof of purchase from food processors.

There’s 35:47 of painful waffling and fluff before they get to anything useful, so just skip to 35:47 where they discuss the Air Miners Boot Up and the next upcoming event. I love what NORI is doing, and normally I love the podcasts, but I don’t have time to watch people make idle small talk and grasp for tired clichés. The podcasts from the first two years were always well structured and had guests who came to the podcast with a topic and discussion points prepared, so they could hit their key items and deliver useful value through thought-leadership, insights, and information the whole way through. I feel that the kind of content in this video just takes my time and attention for granted, by contrast to the prior podcasts. I completely support what NORI is doing, but I also have to be judicious with the limited time resources I have available to allocate. If there’s too much waffling and time-filler on an ongoing basis, I soon won’t be able to justify the time listening to NORI podcasts anymore.

I produced a number of hugelkulturs to plant trees using topsoil to cover probably too permeable as mentioned. They've become a home for overwintering snakes and other wildlife was a welcome surprise.

Yes you can generate CORCs by producing biochar but to generate CORCs the producer needs to sell the biochar to an approved end user which is not easy in North America. What are your thoughts?

climate change cannot be stopped if markets be our only weapon, we will suffer unless we change our mode of production to one which inherently prioritizes the well-being of life on earth rather than the continued domination of the empire and its faced coins over those too small and scattered to resist your machines will not be the ones to save us, we will be

Very cool and it will be interesting to see future research into what applications it can have in agriculture, but it isn't going to save us in our sins--we still have to stop our use of fossil fuels. It'd be hard to keep up with creating enough biochar to offset burning fossil fuels. Also if implemented on a large scale we would start to see topsoil as the limiting factor. Biochar is essentially converting usable top soil organics into something akin to coal. Still worth looking into

We will never stop using oil based products in the foreseeable future. (Oil is primarily abiotic it is not a fossil fuel) Though I would say we should try to have as little of an impact on the environment as possible.

Definitely not meant to replace urgent need to halt emissions, but for capturing carbon in existing wood and biomass into biochar which when used to improve soils has “nature-based” “co benefits” of accelerating naturally-occurring CDR. Controlled burning wood debris on-farm in biochar kilns at 600+ degrees and then quenching makes invertinite/biochar to put on barn floor to be “charged” with nutrients of livestock poop and pee for use as organic soil amendment

Nothing could sound worse to me than a world in which people live forever. Death is as integral to life as birth. Without death it’s quite possible people would stop living altogether in a perpetual state of seeking what is created naturally within them but not know what it is they are seeking.. What they are actually seeking is death. Endless life on earth sounds soulless and without contemplative thought. People often feel most alive after receiving a terminal diagnosis. Facing death is part of our humanity.

Dear female presenter. You worry about the possible burden of a child to the climate. But your very presence is a burden, and not a possible future one. This is not an attack, but why don't you end your life here and now? Once again. This is not a provocation, bit a genuine question. How do you perform the mental gymnasitics where you deny (or at least regard it less meaningfull) the life for other future people (your own, or other people's kids), while you never question your right to be alive? I have never heard an argument that doesn't imply, gently put, naivity or in my own words, hypocrisy.

The only way to have any effect is to get China and India on board. They are increasing their emissions faster than the west can reduce theirs. All we're accomplishing is destroying the west's economies and stunting any chance of finding technology that can mitigate the damage that is bound to happen due to China and India.

Good conversation, thanks for that. The question of 'how we got here' continues to fascinate me, and a key element in the process that wasn't mentioned in the talk directly, but is hinted at is 'disenchantment'. It's much easier to destroy something you don't hold sacred. 'Uluru', what we used to call 'Ayers Rock', was never sacred to Europeans so we let all and sundry walk all over it all the time. Now it's back to being 'Uluru' access is being restricted. So a key question for any Christian is how much did Christianity have to do with 'disenchantment' in the West, and according to the Catholic philosopher Charles Taylor, more than nothing. The conversion of the German tribes starts with Saint Boniface chopping down their sacred tree, and in general Monotheism has to insist that spirits and deities in nature is superstition and idolatry. Christianity is also a 'cut and shut' between Hellenism and Judaism, and initially that arguably works well with Neoplatonism being a good fit. However from the 12th century the 'reverse translation movement' starts to bring Aristotle back into the picture from Arab sources. That eventually leads to Catholic scholasticism and then universities that shifts the focus onto rationalism and empiricism. So slowly 'God is banished from the universe before he dies'. Then of course the reformation finishes off the contemplative aspect of western Christendom by destroying monasteries, and thus commerce and science can really get started on exploiting a planet of resources not sacred interconnectedness. Clearly Eastern Orthodoxy doesn't go down this route, so it will be interesting to see if some of that more mystical, more immanence focused faith can become influential again.
