First concert I ever went to as a kid ! They put on an under 18s show, bless 'em. When we left, there were scary skinheads everywhere waiting for the later show. We had through run through to get home! Absolutely, the album had just come out, so we went home and played it. To think that they put on a special show for younger fans shows a rare connection and understanding of who liked them.

What a cast, damn. Barrie, John Wells, John Bird, The Oblivion Boys, Fry & Laurie, Nigel Dempster (!), Helen Lederer, The Dangerous Brothers, Ben Elton. That was an awesome era of comedy.

Studio 1 at The London Studios was used by them, yes. It was a LWT Production for Channel 4. At over 8,000 Sq Ft, the studio was perfect size.

Thanks for posting. I vividly remember the Robbie Coltrane spoof of "The Third Man" that Chris Barrie mentions. It also had Miranda Richardson as Anna shouting "Shaddup!" at the (diagetic!) zither player who was always just off-screen. Wish I could find it on KZbin!

At the end of this show, Chris says that next week (episode 5) will include The Third Man and Robbie Coltrane, but it wasn't actually shown until the last show of the series, over a month later. It was filmed before the series even began though

I have the date for this - Saturday 15th February 1986 is when this edition aired on Channel 4 from 8.30pm - 10.00pm.

@@flinnell Watched this last night with my wife. Very funny. Hard to believe it is so old now. I am a fan of Madness too. I also think Voice Of The Beehive are excellent, Woody being their drummer in the late eighties and into the nineties.
